Having successfully updated your profile, the following steps, if taken properly, should get you on the right track.

1) Knowing The Terrain To Nevigate Aright: no need of being in this program if ,as a newbie, you don't know such simple tasks as how to upvote, resteem, reply, comment, etc or the meaning of such simple terms as reputation ranking, steem power, etc. I encourage you to spend sometime playing around with various icons of the website to which is what. Visit 
https://steemit.com/welcome and read up how the various icons of the program work.

2) Readership Base: don't rush off to start making blog post because nobody is going to read it and upvote it. A very important aspect of your readership base is your 'followers' list. This is where the money is because they are people who are going to be seeing your blog posts and possibly read and upvote them. 

The type of people making up this list is also important. Not just a long list of unserious followers but good followers who will always do the necessary whenever they see your post. The best known strategy to develop good readership base is by making intelligent comments on other peoples posts. 

A mix of whales and minnows is advised. You need a whale to earn good author and curation rewards when they upvote your posts. Follow such whales as @dan @dantheman @ned @steemservices @steemrollin @donkeypong @steemship @clayop @nextgencrypto @arhag. Research further for more whales and other people whose posts always garner fat payout. Follow, upvote and most importantly make intelligent comments on their posts. Don't ask them to follow you; let the quality of your comments do that.

Minnows are important in building your social network and reputation rank, which are precursors for potential fat payout. The best way to scouting for minnows to grow your followers' list is by going to #introduceyourself trend and leaving comments on their 'introduceyourself' posts. Below is what I normally use to do that:

- Be yourself, originality matters a lot and submit quality content at least two times weekly.
- You can get into arguments but without being disrespectful to people to avoid down votes
- upvote and follow posts that interest you and well as people who upvote and follow you. Reciprocity matters.
- spend sometime to comment on other people's posts daily.
- Give quality feedback to peoples comments.

I was struggling to build my 'followers' list until I started using the above recipe. Now I receive a lot of reply and upvote from minnows with a lot of them following me without asking them to; growing my followers list from less than 20 to above 100 within 4 days. You can develop a newbie recipe from mine above but don't copy word to word because it is highly frown at.

3) Pay Attention To Your Reputation Rank And Always Strive To Grow It: Reputation ranking is improved by getting involved with what's happening in the community, building alliances by way of commenting, upvoting, replying, resteeming, writing articles, etc. How much success you achieve in this program is largely dependent on your reputation rank. This is because no matter how rich your articles are, many people will not bother to look at it when they notice your reputation is still within 25+ to 30+ ranks. The best strategy to improve on this, is by getting involved. As you do this, your ranking will improve and people will start paying more attention to you. This will resultto more clicks on your articles. The more people click and read your articles, the more upvotes your posts will receive and the more you earn.

4) Build Your Steem Power (SP): steem power is everything in Steemit community. It determines the worth of your upvote and how much or often your articles are shown or displayed by the system, thus affecting the ranking of your articles and its general performance. 
There are two ways of building SP; either you buy steem from exchanges and powering up your raw steem to SP or earning 50% SP and 50% SBD by default. For now, When making up articles always change this default setting to Power Up 100%. See below...

Don't cash out now, just accumulate SP. As you do that, your articles ranking will improve and you will earn more. But always predefine the level of SP at which you start cashing out. Some people have 500, 1000, 5000, 20000 or even up to 100000SP.

5) Where Possible, Use @Randowhale To Boost Your Payout: @Randowhale is a not or a cyborg created with between 250000SP to 500000SP. When you transfer 2 steem to it, it will upvote your post with between 1% to 50% steem power strength. One thing: you cannot earn less than the 2 steem you invested in @Randowhale.

6) Avoid Plagiarism and copy pasting or be ready to face @cheetah action. However, @cheetah doesn't detect all cases of plagiarism. Be well informed about what @cheetah does and what it doesn't do, i encourage you visit: [https://steemit.com/steemitabuse/@cheetah/cheetah-bot-explained]

7) Do your #introduceyourself post as soon as you hit 150 followers or more if possible. And use appreciate or relevant tags to do this.
8) Use google translator to converte your articles into at least one other major language to broaden your readership base. I normally converte to simplified chinese. To do that, visit: [https://translate.google.com.ng/m/translate?hl=en]

When you do that, don't forget to use appropriate language tag when adding tags. For example, French is fr, Chinese is cn, South Korea is kr, etc.

9) Images/photos can do wonders to your blog posts by attracting readership. I mainly download my blog images from https://www.pixabay.com; you can check it out.
