In early spring, the fruit trees had not yet woken up.  But the dogwood is already lush and blooms and pleases my eyes with its bright yellow luxury!

Once upon a time I often went to Crimea to rest by the sea and for the first time I saw a dogwood in the forest.
And for the first time I tasted dark red berries that were very sour!  And here's what a legend I read:

"When Allah created the world and, having done this very responsible work, went to rest, a blissful spring came on earth.  The trees turned green, buds began to bloom, flowers appeared.
 Then all living things reached out to the paradise blossoming gardens and a big noise arose.  He grabs one, he pulls another, quarreling among themselves, cursing.  In a word - there is no order.
 Allah could not stand it, rose from his bed, where he was resting, and began to restore order.  The first duty he called everyone to himself and said so:
 - My foolish children!  You spoil all the gardens.  I command each of you to choose one single plant, so that you can only use it later.  Think carefully, come to me and ask.
 What was here after the words of Allah!  Every creature fussed, became agitated, so as not to miscalculate.  He asks for cherry, that apple, that peach, that apricot.
 Went to Allah and Shaitan.
 “And are you here?”  Allah asked.
 “And I'm here.”  - answered the unclean, squinting a cunning eye.
 - Thought?
 - I thought.
 “And what did you choose?”
 - Dogwood
 - Dogwood?  Why dogwood?
 “So,” Shaitan did not want to tell the truth.
 “Well, take a dogwood,” Allah decided.
 Shaitan jumped happily, wagged his tail with joy.  Still, he had so dexterously outwitted everyone, he asked for a dogwood for himself.  The cornel corpuscle bloomed, which means it will yield a crop earlier than other plants.  And the first berry is the most expensive.  He will take his dogwood to the market, sell it at exorbitant prices, rake in a lot of money.  The richest of all will be Shaitan!
 It was summer, the fruits began to ripen - cherries and cherries, apples and pears, peaches and apricots.  And the dogwood is still not mature, still remained green and solid.
 Shaitan sits under a tree, angry:
 - Yes, ripen soon, shaitanova berry!
 Dogwood does not ripen.  Then Shaitan began to blow on the berries, and they turned red-red, like a flame.  But, as before, they were solid and acidic.
 - Well, how is your dogwood?  - Shaitan asked people.
 “Muck, not a berry, take it better for yourself,” Shaitan answered and I spat, annoyed, already the dogwood turned black.
 In late autumn, when the harvest in the gardens was already harvested, people came to the forest with dogwood.  Gathering black, but sweet, tasty berries, they chuckled at Shaitan:
 - The Shaitan miscalculated!
 - Shaitan gave Mahu!
 - Shaitan outwitted himself!
 And Shaitan, meanwhile, was furious with anger and thought how to take revenge on people so that they would remember this dogwood once and for all.  And came up with.
 The following fall, Shaitan made the dogwood double twice as much.  And for it to mature, it took twice as much solar heat.
 People were delighted at the large harvest of dogwood, not suspecting that these were tricks of Shaitan.
 And the sun, exhausted over the summer, could not already send enough heat to the earth.  And such a harsh winter came that the gardens froze, and people remained a little alive.
 Since then, there is a sign: if a large harvest for dogwood - be a cold winter."

And later my parents planted two dogwood trees in our garden and now I enjoy these delicious delicious berries when there is nothing in the garden, only the dogwood berries become delicious when the first frosts come!
