In the last post, I decided that the first prototype of Fatbike was created. A friend helped me in this. He also caught on with such an idea after he tried to ride on my prototype. A friend had a normal Stels - twin suspension bike, then he decided to make the second prototype of the fat tire bike.

The front wheel contained only one tire with a width of 4 inches and rear wheel was on a narrow rim. The fork could not accommodate a wider width. With Stels it was necessary to work much more seriously: expand and amplify the back triangle, make the crank block wider, welding the usual rigid fork to the normal width for 4", make the rear and front adapter of the disc brakes.

The work dragged on slowly, for a very long time the turner was made of a solid steel axle for the crank and a cup. The welding of the triangle did not take for a long time.

The rims were ordered wider: the rear width of 80 mm, the front 46 mm. Also, several cameras were ordered for 4 inches for fatbike. All this was ordered from ebay from U.S. (now full of spare parts on websites from China and Russia). As a result, it turned out much better than the first prototype!

When I sat down and drove off, I was just shocked by the ease of going!!! Of course there were flaws in terms of brakes, geometry, the rear bushing was too narrow and not all transmissions worked. But how it goes!!! On the asphalt and off-road - it's already become good everywhere.

I traveled a bit, traveled along the sands of Ryazanikha - the shallow channel of the Northern Dvina River.

In general, all these projects were originally done for skating on such places, about universality at the initial stage was not thought .. but I wanted to get to them quickly and with comfort, so all the developments were not standing still - I would like to achieve the ideal.

Just imagine, you are trundle a bicycle on loose sand, drag it along ... or you drive along it with ease, where your eyes are looking, even on the water, even on the grass - a continuous euphoria!

But the weight of course upset - the bike weighed over 20 kg. Immediately wanted to collect another one - after all this one was not mine, but a friend's. I had a frame from a soviet Zif-77 moped with a fork.

It remained to exhaust the crank and buy the rear hub - the wide wheels are already placed in the frame and fork, but only on the rim 46 mm .. although for happiness and that was enough!

But the work was delayed until the fall, and then completely froze along with the arrival of winter.

Only in the spring, when it was only beginning to melt, when I went into the garage, I got my (and not another) second prototype, already on the account, and I realized that I had to move on!
