I believe in Quality over Quantity. During my brief time on Steemit so far, I have noticed that many "minnows" are spending a significant amount of their time and energy to "make a quick buck" or posting hundreds of short blogs per day desperately trying to gain the attention of the "whales" and "dolphins".



While it's a wonderful <b><i>bonus</i></b> that you can earn money on Steemit, the facts that the platform is still in a "beta" period, there is a ~~2-year~~ 13 week (approximately 3 months) "power down" timeframe, and the best way to ensure future growth is to post useful and interesting content, I don't see the point or benefit of so many people posting the same "How-To" messages, with slightly different wording. Sure, I understand the value of having tutorials and helpful hints, including tips on "How to make money on Steemit". But when some of the people posting these articles have only made $10, $50, $100 on Steemit, typically because a single whale upvoted one of their posts, how helpful can these tips truly be?

When I search through the Steemit platform, I'm looking to follow people who post new and interesting content (and I believe that is what most others are doing as well). If I see someone who is simply resteeming everyone else's articles, I get disappointed; or I will simply follow the original content provider. Commenting on others' posts is a great way to grow your following, provided you are posting interesting and thoughtful remarks :)

Many of the strongest Steemit supporters are calling this platform the "Facebook Killer". While there is a potential for Steemit to become that, we are a long way away from reaching such a goal. In order to reach that goal, the community here needs to make a conscious and active effort to create a platform where everyone can benefit, and everyone is supported. This doesn't mean we all have to post "How-To" articles, but to simply "add value" to the community through providing funny posts, interesting news articles, travel tips, useful household tips, blogs, discussing life with children, etc.

The more we can develop and share original content, the better off all of us will be!

Let me know if I'm way off base, or if this sounds like the type of community Steemit is meant to be.
