Filmed a pair of restarts in our garden during breeding season. First they were taking the mealworms for themselves, then they would feed their kids and finally the baby birds would show up to be fed right on the spot.

Mealworm are super easy to farm yourself. I acquired them for my fish and now the birds get some too, since a lot of big trees have been removed in which they used to hunt food for their chicks.

I woul love to farm them, but it gets too cold in Wisconsin to have them in the garage and I can't bring myself to have them in the house!

Great video.
Do you see how the bird flaps her tail? In Russia, they called her "burning tail", because when she waves her red tail, it looks like a burning flame.

They sure like to flap their tail alot. It's a very jumpy and nervous bird in general.
