My dad's test results, lasagna, and a man on a wire.

Everything is fine!

The doctor said before he even shook my dad's hand.

Now that's what I like.

No fuzz, no endless bullshit, just straight to the point.

He shook mine briefly but focused completely on my dad.

That was fine with me.

I heard enough. He's clear for another 6 months. Woohoo!

I don't think that I will ever get truly used to these visits.

Every time it's a little scary and it makes me subconsciously tired.

I never notice that I'm tired before but always after the pressure has been taken away.

Walking out of the hospital I asked my dad what he wanted to eat for dinner.

'Pasta'

Also straight to the point.

I made a nice lasagna us.

Bianca is out tonight for her Dutch course so it was just me and my dad.

Sort of like the old days.

I'm not sure if I ever said this but my dad and I have been living together for a long time.

It worked, we both did our own thing.

Nowadays we see each other less. He's up North a big part of the week and weekend.

Still, it's nice to have these evenings from time to time.

We watch a film tonight called the Walk.

I saw the documentary about Philippe Petit's attempt to Walk on a wire between the Twin towers once and loved it.

I saw that they made a real movie about it on Netflix.

We watched it and It was great.

I might not share Philippe Petit passion for wire walking but I admire his ability for not giving up a lot!

After the film, we went for a walk with Trevor.

The whole routine sort of took me back in time.

With the only difference that my dad had a small rest on the bridge in the park.

Like Trevor, he's getting a little older.

We got home and my dad went to bed and I'm typing this up.

I'm waiting for Bianca to get home.

I hope she had a good day.

A nice evening you had their with your dad a revival of old good days :D and i am sure its pretty scary sometime to visit hospitals sometime i complete agree no one could get used to that but coming straight to point just like you did great news it is that your dad is fine and perfect :)

I like it when people are straight to the point. Saves us a lot of time and bs that is definitely not needed. People tend to turn around the pot (rond de pot draaien, i don't know the correct translation)  way to much nowadays.
I'm not sure what happened to your father. But I can certainly relate to you. My father developed a rare form of cancer not too long ago and he has his check ups every now and then. It's really stressful but he's been clean since he had surgery. Let's hope the same for your dad.

Great news to hear your dad is ok.  I know exactly what you mean about visits to the hospital when a loved ones health is in question.  It's mentally draining and you just feel exhausted.  I'm just glad the news was good!

Sounds like a great night all around man.  Quiet nights like this just spending time together with one of our loved ones are some of the best gifts life has to offer.  Just relaxing a bit and just kicking back brings great perspective and let's us refocus on what's important.

I believe life is a circle. Things come back to us. There was a time when we couldn't walk our dad's moms helps us to walk. they also thought us how to wear shirts pants.
