Vlog #115: The first real Project that will use an SMT has been announced yesterday and it's called Appics.

The first app that will use Smart Media Token (on the Steem blockchain) has been announced and it's called Appics.

I think this is great for several reasons.

1. First of all, from what I could see a lot of care has gone into the website, marketing material, and the app itself. It looks amazing. Just check out this [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwUbJ7oRsdI). It's a perfect showcase.

2. It will showcase what an SMT can mean for a social media APP. (that runs on the STEEM blockchain). 

3. It will showcase how an ICO works on the STEEM blockchain.

4. It will showcase that anyone can build on top of the Steem blockchain and monetize it with an own SMT.

For me, this project is just another reason to look forward to SF2 and learn more about it.

fantastic news @exyle, it's nice to see first app Appics, starts to use SMT's on top of steem blockchain and it's actually great in a sense that it helps directly the steem coin and that's great for whole steemit community, i am also so excited to see how those SMT's actually works practically, the another wonderful thing is that every SMT is traded in a steem/smt pair and that's another good thing and it defiantly helps the steem price a lot, thanks you very much my friend for sharing fantastic news with us, these informations really helpful for me and surely for the whole steemit community as well,  stay happy and blessed my friend.

looks easy to use on the smartphone, it can become very popular. I've seen many people sign up for steemit but never sent a post because steemit is more content oriented and not actually a social media, with friends and chat an pictures of foots, you know, the usual stuff.

Very interesting to see Appics - looks very smart, very slick and much like Steemit should be!

I wonder how many steemit users will move over to Appics. If your content is of a photo / video type Appics looks like it would be a far better place to be. Particularly if you can get in as an early adopter.

I wonder how much of Steemit Inc's developer power is diverted off to SMTs and the likes of Appic now - rather than making steemit better?

This is what I liked the most:

You have penned down some key points and I really appreciate you for that. Keep up the good job as it's helping thousands of the Steemians.

I'm sure you will be doing a lots of things there at SF2. I think the recent threat to Steemit has been it's _going down_ several_ times in a week. This is creating a lots of concerns among users specially the new comers. I know there are some alternate solutions to this problem but people just hate keep creating new accounts. It's _annoying_. This is the first thing that should be discussed on SF2 before anything else. 

The second thing that is a big _threat_ to the users is spamming/hacking. Some serious actions are requires from the top management on this issue. People are losing their accounts as this number of spammers has increased during last couple of weeks. 

Just gave my input on issues that are hurting Steemit. 

Great job and superb post like ever before. Keep rocking dear @exyle.

You don't need a new account to use different frontends. I'm writing this comment on Busy.org with the same credentials as Steemit.com. That means that the Steem blockchain is fine only the website Steemit.com is slow.  Spamming will be tough to address I guess. As long as you never use your master key to login you will always be safe.
