<html> <p> Phaistos Disk is a disk made of burnt and golden clay. Phaistos disk was first discovered among the ruins of Phaistos, the Ancient Minoan Kingdom located on the southern coast of Crete. Crete itself is the name of a large island in Greece. </p> <p><center><img src="https://www.ancient.eu/uploads/images/364.jpg?v=1485681273" width="600" height="450"/></center></p> <p> An Italian archaeologist named Luigi Pernier was the man who first discovered this flattened artefact in 1908. Archaeologist Luigi Pernier found him in the basement of the Minoan palace complex during the excavation process. This place has collapsed in parts of its buildings after being forged by an earthquake and an eruption. </p> <p> Phaistos disks have flat characteristics with golden brown and are made of burnt clay. This disk has a diameter of 15.8-16.5 cm with a thickness of 1.6-2.1 cm. This measure is not so valid considering this object is not tidy shape. Most likely this object is handmade. </p> <p> As mentioned above that what makes this object interesting is the mysterious symbols of 243 in both parts. These symbols are arranged in a spiral line according to the clockwise direction from the outside to the center. </p> <p><center><img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/50/PhaistosDiskTranscribed.png" width="1000" height="541"/></center></p> <p> The mysterious symbols that fill this disk vary. There are carvings of people walking, arrows, cats, eagles, head with standing hair. Meanwhile, the image of the person located in the center with the head looking to the right seems to be a sign that the symbols are read from the inside out to the right. </p> <p> Meanwhile, separate pictures with three symbols each are thought to be syllables. Some say it in left-right reading, there is also a opinion readable right and left. Regarding the language used in the disc was still controversial, some researchers argue that the language used is a mixture of various languages such as Hittite, Indo-European, Homeric Greek, and also Semitic. </p> <p> However, many suspect that the language used is an unknown language or did not rule out the language used is a language that has long been extinct. But although this symbol is unique, it turns out there is also a finding with these symbols inscribed in it. The discovery was a bronze ax found in a cave of the Traostalos Temple, Crete, Greece. </p> <p><center><img src="https://www.crystalinks.com/phaistosdiscs.jpg" width="1000" height="541"/></center></p> <p> Luigi Pernier along with Sir Arthur Evans studied the Phaistos disk for years but failed to translate it. Since that time also many researchers who are interested to translate what the meaning of the series-dere mysterious symbol. But just like Pernier they all failed. </p> <p> Some theories suggest that it may contain something religious, it may be an ancient ritual, or it may be an offering to the goddess of the earth, even a musical note. I have no idea. One thing is for sure, Phaistos Disk is still in need of in-depth research to be able to solve the puzzle in it.
