I constantly hear this being thrown around, even in this sub, but i don't see a lot of evidence of this actually being the case.

Now I'm an atheist, and I don't think too fondly about religion, but I think it's either intellectually lazy or plain dishonest for people to constantly make this claim.

The two world wars were not caused by religion, albeit religions did take a propagandistic role in the conflicts. Even the thirty years war, a war that was especially brutal and was one war crime after another, was generally waged out of geopolitical interests, with a religious pretext.

Religion may well be a useful pretext in conflicts, but for the most part it has not be the major catalyst of war especially not over 50% of them.
