A lovely Friday from this end, it's sunny here to God's glory. It's a pleasant thing to end this week's contest with this topic especially those of us that went through the corridors of academics.

### Introduction
Immediately I saw the topic, I started thinking what if you didn't go through the walls of school or you don't intend to go to school which course would you write on now? I want to believe that either directly or indirectly you would have had an encounter with school before you have this capacity to join the learning process being cultured here. Remember school is not necessarily a class room, it could be home, business areas, worship centres etc.

I thank God for the privilege to go to school and study a course. I know some might have similar experience like me all the same blessed be the name of the lord. Initially as I was rounding up my West African Examination Council (WAEC) I thought I would study microbiology but the Lord decided to push me to Chemistry department.

Ladies and gentlemen, the course i studied is Chemistry. I have no regrets to have studied this course like some people. I have come to realized that the best course on is earth is chemistry. This is a course that deals with both plants and animals and every human endeavors.

### let me me define my course
Chemistry can be defined as an aspect of science which deals with the study, nature and composition of matter. Remember anything that has mass, weight and occupies space. The question is whatever you can think or imagine that fulfills above condition is simply what chemistry entails. Most at times people think chemistry is an abstract subject but I want to simplify it so that every lay person would understand it. 

At least I have two degrees; first degree was BSC Bsc in chemistry while the second is MSc  MSc inorganic chemistry. I had the privilege to carry certain researches relevant to both academic and non academic line.  Let me quickly highlight some common activities that are done even at home that defines chemistry already.
* Cooking or boiling of water is a good physical process of chemistry which the substance retain their identity before and at the end of the reaction.
* Burning of firewood, paper etc are typical examples of chemical change in which you can't reverse the process or reaction.
* Every activity at home could either be termed as chemical or physical process. Hmmm that's already chemistry.

### Why did I studied this course?
I studied the course because of the challenges that has been happening within my environment and how health is being managed. I also realized that many lack the fundamental knowledge of the course thereby when they ascend to higher institution of learning find it difficult to assimilate the concept. With all these problems, that pause a quest and strong desire on me to give my quota to the advancement of my family as well as community at large. 
I may not be able to proffer all the possible solution but at least I would cover an area.

### Relevance of Chemistry to the society
Chemistry is not just a course that is being studied but has varied significance to human endeavors. Some applications of chemistry includes;
* Medicine: There's no way you become a medical Doctor without doing or taking a chemistry course. Most of the things found in the medical sphere are product of chemistry.
* In food industry; the study of chemistry helps to produce some chemicals used in agriculture for farming, weeding etc while preservatives are also done by chemistry. 
* In pharmacy, Cement production, cosmetics, etc makes use of chemistry directly or indirectly. 
* For companies that have high corrosion rate, Chemistry knowledge is used to provide an anti- corrosion agents which will help to inhibit it.
The importance of chemistry can't be overemphasized.

### my experience about the course
I have pilled lots of life changing experience since I venture into this course. 
* I have been able to teach and train other younger ones in this for more than a decades now and they have no course of regrets. Sincerely those with fundamental challenge about the course are now expert and completely fall in love with chemistry because of how I taught them.
* The knowledgeable of chemistry has helped to improvise some household items in order to manage too much expenditure. Presently I don't buy cream in the market rather I produce it by myself. I know the constituents to use.
* I had the privilege to study organic chemistry where plants are really explored which could be use for health treatment for illness. I made a research on a pea leaf which I deduced the curative ability for typhoid, syphilis etc. If not because of chemistry how would I have discovered this?
* Even cooking at home, there things we can introduce into food to make it cook on time. In chemistry we call it catalyst. These are substance that speed up the rate of chemical reactions and remain unchanged at the end. If you're cooking beans just put onions, or nails, or iron etc hmm within a short time it will get done.
There are lots of experiences I have gathered just mentioned a few.

## CONCLUSION
I'm proud of the course I studied and I have found importance in diverse sector of human endeavors.
Chemist recreates nature. Be a chemist today.
