Hi great hivers,
Welcome to my entry for the week 45 of the second edition of the hive learners contest. I salute everyone Here especially the management crew. May God bless all of us.

This edition came with an outstanding and present needed topic which is technology and education. I consider this as a timely topic because of the current educational challenges.
I decided to title this piece as the impact of technology in educational system.

Technology is the use of science, tools, Computer, engineering in order to solve a need. There are lot of need that the advent of technology really solved. As I was growing up, I never knew that technology has so many positive effect on the educational system because of my level of exposure and knowledge. Since I have been introduced to this, my life has never remain the same from all levels of my school.
I intend to share the relevance of technology in promoting or advancing the course of educational system. I will also share some life experiences.

Educational technology has done more good than harm in the present state. This brought a lot of transformation from the traditional way of education. For instance in teaching in the class, copying notes, students assessment etc. Some of the significant impact of technology in education includes;

* Self learning or learning at your pace. In my days in school, I was brought up with a negative perceptions about technology. I have been brainwashed that technology has come to reduce the values and Norms of the society. First I had the privilege to buy a hand set then I really enjoyed using it. This helped to surf the internet and get a global perception about things. There are lots of self interactive portal that was installed in the computer which reduces the frequency and the impact of stress on the teachers. Student can access the internet and attend to classes and do other things alone with the help of YouTube channel etc. This has reduced work load on the teachers.

* One of the areas of technology that actually strikes chord to me is the distant learning initiative or programme. This has made so many people today educated. You don't need to travel miles before you enrol in a school for studies. You can attain any academic height with distant learning programme. Of course as many that are busy within the week can now go for a short term course at weekend which is monitored by the help of computer. They can stay wherever they are to take the exams. To add to this, some schools today don't have physical structures but they are doing excellently well in training and educating people.

* Another significant impact of technology in education is that exams has been simplified. Exams can be properly monitored on the internet and the CCTV camera are used to track any act that is not consistent with the school regulations.
Technology has also become a means of exposure to students which easily makes students gained relevant information. This exposure also connects one with the entire world though you may not see physically. If not because of technology what would have become of me even on this platform? I wouldn't have met a lot of us.

Initially when I was in secondary school, I made used of black board where most teachers complaint of chalk dust entering into their eyes then later magnetic white  board was introduced. Now teachers can easily project their classes and at times with the help of a projector. This boosted class participation.

For me, the impact of technology is more than the negative that one might itemize as far as education is concerned. 
Therefore technology has really improved the educational system beyond one's imagination. Hmmm the significance of technology to education can't be overemphasized.
