I come from a 'traditional' point of view for a lightpainter where all the elements in a shot must be created in one photographic exposure using only lighting effects of various kinds.  So when @fadetoblack turned up one night with his Android tablet I was a little conflicted.  The process involves exposing the screen of the tablet to the sensor then adding live elements all in the same exposure.

I gave it a go myself:

**The God Particle**

This title will probably get in to a lot of bother with the God botherers, but I don't care!  I saw this image of Michelangelo's "God" and knew I wanted to add a lightpainted Ball of Light at the end of "God's" finger.  Since we were in a railway tunnel at the time, I used the tracks to create a leading line to the Ball of Light.  This is one of those shots which evolve along the way and adding a silhouette in the Ball of Light worked for me.  All shot in one photographic exposure except the iPad Michelangelo which is approx 500 years old....

A quote directly from the film, Bladerunner, which was the inspiration for this shot.  Shot in one photographic exposure using an iPad image of a sculpture I shot in Cardiff, two tripods, two lenses and a Godox strobe.  I somehow managed to nail it first time which is unusual for me...

**Reach out before you pass out**

Camera rotation photography combined with mid exposure lens and tripod swaps again using a circuit board and a black and white iPad image shot earlier this week using smoke.  The point of using a mono iPad image is so the colour from the live element appears.

**Lightpainting circuit boards in the dark**

Shooting circuit boards in my kitchen in the dark is somewhat of an obsession. Here I've turned the circuit board out of parallel to create a shallow depth of field.  The skull is an image on the iPad where I have manually panned the camera in both directions to create a motion effect.  This one took about 10 attempts to get the exposure on the skull right; it only takes a brief amount of time to expose the skull correctly.

**My best friend, Paranoia**

On the internet, I always assume someone somewhere is watching. This is an iPad image of an eye combined with a lightpainted circuit board.  Again all shot in one photographic exposure.
