This is my first post with an opinion to the Hive and might well be my last. I just want to gauge what happens with this kind of post....

With the current pandemic leading to British and other nationalities around the world being forced to work from home or worse, being furloughed, would now be a good time to consider working from home as the new normal?

Working from home has advantages.  No need to travel to and from work in rush hours. Less traffic on the roads.  No money spent on vehicle running costs.  Lower emmissions created.  Cleaner environment.  Green lobby happy (or at least happier than they were before).

And from an employer's point of view.  Less office space required to accommodate their employee. Lower running costs for the place of work.  Lower operating costs for the business.  Higher business profitability.

Speaking from a British perspective, a good way to encourage working from home might be to incentivise employers to enable their employees to work remotely just as they have been doing for a few weeks now.  Pretty much everyone in the UK has access to high speed internet, a computer and a mobile phone.  This lockdown has revealed to people technology they probably never realised existed (such as Zoom) and the ability to communicate has never been better.  So why not create tax breaks for both the employer and employee in the form of tax allowances?

I don't intend to bore people to death with this but I'd like to hear opinions on this and what you think would be the "new normal"
