Is life fair? I ask myself this question daily. Why are some people more privileged than others? Why were some people born with disabilities? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do people die early? Why are people afflicted with diseases without a  cure? Why are others on the street mad or homeless? 

Seven years ago I started to ask myself this question, is life fair?

Why am I feeling this way? My heart is racing so fast, even faster than flash.
Is this a dream? It cannot be possible.

I stood there crying, praying like a pastor
I wanted the pain to end. It was too much for me to bear.

But it was too late, she was already gone. Calls and messages started rolling in. The news of her passing had spread like wildfire. I bursted into tears.  She was indeed loved by many as she lived an impactful life.

I begged God to bring her back. This cannot be happening. I can't be motherless.

Where do i start from? I have lived with her all my life and I am already used her.

Who will cook delicious meals for me? Who will encourage and motivate me?
Who will pat me to sleep?
Who will pray for me?
Who will support me?
Who will I tell my secrets to?

Death, where is your sting?. I never imagined this day would come. We were happy she was recovering and now this.

We were planning to celebrate her recovery not her funeral. My siblings were in tears, my dad collapsed. I was confused and in disbelief.

It happened so fast. She took her last breath and laid lifeless.

What more does life have to offer?
 Seven years ago, May 24th 2014. I lost my mother, my first love.

Today I look at how I have grown to be woman she has always wanted me to become and even better. That experience made me better in a way.

Being the first daughter, I had to take care of my dad and younger ones. This till date made me have a sense of responsibility and it has guided all my decisions. Life gave me lemon and I made lemonade out of it.

Many times we are faced with situations that are unpleasant. I think life is not always fair. Life doesn't always give us what we deserve. It's something we have to accept.

No matter the situation, being positive at all times is key because somethings are beyond your control. The fact that you are alive is something to be grateful for. Life comes with ups and downs. 

Keep moving and pushing. Be your best self because you never know what will happen next. Spread love wherever you go. Keep smiling even when the world doesn't smile back. Do not hold grudges, forgive quickly and don't revenge.
