I just thought about the payout structure and if it wasn't better to adjust it. In the whitepaper you find the following:

Payouts When a post receives a payout it takes the form of 50% SMD and 50% SP. The Steem Power give the user increased voting and transaction power while the SMD gives the user an immediate benefit in a stable currency. As we’ve already discussed at length, both SP and SMD are designed to encourage long-term holding rather than short-term selling.

So if you have a post that reaches $ 10,000 you get 50 % SMD and 50 % SP. The SMD (SteemDollars) can be traded to Bitcoin in a few minutes. So round about 50 % of the money on Steemit can flow away in only 12 hours. The other 50 % are payed out in SteemPower which is a fixed deposit. You can get at it if you power down your SteemPower.

In my opinion it is a problem that 50 % of the revenue can be changed to Bitcoin in only a few minutes. The money flows out of the system to fast if you don't change it to Steem and Power Up after that.

I don't think with all the exchanges (Poloniex, Bittrex, HitBTC) that it encourages the long-term holding.

Why don't we switch all to pure fixed deposits where we get 1-2 % payouts every week? So the biggest part of the money stays in the system for 104 weeks and the price will be more stable.

Well, I'd prefer at least some liquidity and do see easy payouts as ONE incentive to write here and to help attract and motivate people who might have or want to make a living etc. Also not being able to pull out most of your money in case you need it feels not very helpful, trustworthy and motivating to have a lot of people joining/using it other than a few "geeks" and long-term investors of the idea. But a community and platform that grows, needs to attract "ordinary/non-investor types" too. So 1-2% would seem way too low for that. Maybe 30%? But I do see where you'Re coming from and you do have a point.

Okay, I agree. But good to see that you have a similar opinion. Probably the devs will adjust it anytime in the future. Let's see.
