The Problem
## Single Mission

Have you ever met someone, who was on one single quest?

It's not nice to talk about people that way, and I don't see them this way, but some people are like NPCs. And I don't mean like the political meme. Which is also a thing...
...but I mean people, who seemingly were just put there 'by the universe' to give you a mission, advice, help or maybe an item.

Maybe this is just my romantic view of the world or something, but I also feel like I've been such a person for other people; I have given random people quests, items, advice and just walked off like a damn NPC myself.

Maybe I should write a whole piece on this concept, and I am sure, I am not the first one to discover this, but I have yet to find a good word for it.

## Jamie

I met Jamie in a hippie retreat. You could tell just by looking at him that he was mentally stressed. He was blasting psychedelic mushrooms, which probably didn't help.
He looked like a homeless person. Probably was.

Let's be honest: Most junkie type, homeless people don't have much to offer.
At least in their low state they are not really helpful to the people around them...

But Jamie wasn't crazy. Actually pleasant to be around for the most part.
We spent quite a few days talking.

When I picked him up as a hitch hiker like 3 weeks later, he did not recognize me.
Or maybe he did after a while, but I think he never did.

Anyways, Jamie was the type of crazy person that was worth listening to, because some of them have seen things, which drove them crazy in the first place, and they are desperate to talk about them ...if that makes sense.

Jamie - at least at this point in his life - was a single mission man.
He had (had?) a profound realization and was on the quest to tell everyone willing to listen.

## The Problem

Jamie had a bachelor or master degree in Eastern Philosophy.
During his last thesis he basically _played through_.
He did what almost all people fail to achieve: He finished studying.

His thesis was on the Aum sect. Google: Shoko Asahara.

I have since done a little research on them and the 'mainstream' narrative is a little different than what Jamie told me. I mean: the facts stay the same, just Jamie's interpretation was different.

According to him, the Aum sect formulated this question:

#### What is the problem?

The problem in the world, life, universe... what is the underlying _problem_?

However crazy they were, they had some serious professionals in their ranks. Lawyers, scientists... smart, professional people. In short: they had serious brainpower and focused it on _the problem_.
We can skip the rest.
They finally identified _the problem_:

**It's the humans themselves.**

Turns out (according to Jamie's findings) if you search long and hard enough for _the problem_ and you do it right, you will inevitably come to the conclusion, that **the humans are the problem**.

The Aum sect then started planning to destroy humanity and tried aquiring nuclear weapons.
They made international news, when they attacked the Tokio subway with nerve gas or something.

## Conclusion

Jamie's truth in a nutshell:

Ultimately, if you search for a problem in other people long enough, you will eventually find one and it will make you hate everyone.
Maybe it's a projection reflection type of thing, when you find out you're just an asshole.

I hope Jamie is doing well.

At the time, it made perfect sense.
It's really just a variant of: _stop worrying so much, you can't solve all problems._
So much for an anecdote.

Maybe this has something to do with the improper use of the word _problem_.
Did you know, that in greek philosophy it means something different than what we use it for colloquially?

##### Have you ever met a single-mission-person?

This afternoon, I fell asleep on the couch and now I am awake at 3 am and got up to write this.
I'll have to read this again tomorrow...
Maybe I have written about this before... I am not sure.
