Books on Natural Construction and Lunar Medicine | Solar Batteries | Spending 30 USD a day experiment

Well, as usual, my experiments take another swing in directions I didn't expect at all. I had begun an [experiment to spend 30 USD](https://peakd.com/hive-114105/@fenngen/spending-30-usd-daily-or) daily for the next month, or until my savings ran out. I wanted to document the process and draw conclusions, see what transformations this led to in the material plane, but once again I found myself returning to spiritual inner work hahaha!

What happened was that after having done the first day of buying, I had a really hard time going to town the next day as the downpour was too strong and didn't want to get so wet. Then, the next day I decided to keep working on my shelter as I wanted to do something about the leaks that were coming in. I got motivated the day after that to go uphill to gather some rocks.

So I was getting a bit frustrated about not being able to fulfill the project, but I also kind of relaxed about everything. This was an even greater reminder that happiness can be attained and enjoyed in any place, with or without material comfort. The walk uphill was a big pleasure and it costed me nothing, on the contrary, I walked back home with a bag full of material for building.

Then I visited my mother and she needed to fill her truck with gas, so I took that chance to do some spending. I ended up spending 41 dollars (of course I didn't ask her for money, she's always providing for those around her) on gas for her, 20.71 dollars on peanuts, nuts, and pumpkin seeds, and 9.70 dollars on wine and cooking oil. So that was what I had accumulated during the days I didn't spend, and I still had more that could have been used.

After that day at the city I just wanted to peacefully exist at the shelter. Damn, spending money is just as much work as making it! There are many things I would like to have, but having to spend 30 dollars draws me away from more pleasurable things, such as a walk in the woods or meditation.

Anyways! I've lost all track of how many days have passed and how much I was supposed to spend hahaha! But I have enough coin for two things I'm interested at the moment: another battery for my solar panels and some books offered by this guy, Horacio Spartaco, who's an expert on bioconstruction. I'll also be needing another inverter for the solar energy setup as the one I currently have can only deal with one battery, but that will have to wait until I have enough to spend on it.

So let me tell you about the books. It's a pack of four (45.42 dollars for the whole pack) which include:

- Ancestral Natural Construction, a handwritten compilation of ancestral methods.

- Lunar Medicine, based on Chinese medicine, it describes the relationship between the cycles of the moon and the female period.

- The Order of the Sky, a compilation and study of the influence generated by the movement of celestial bodies upon the course of historical happenings.

- The Moon Chronological Calendar, a guide to organizing your labors to the rhythm of the natural cycles of the moon and seasons. (I asked for two of these to give one as a gift 💗)

All these books are in Spanish though, so you billingüals out there might consider getting them, as they are done by people who practice what they write and go through lots of work to make knowledge available to the general public.

Here are some pictures taken from the [Facebook of the editorial](https://web.facebook.com/Grantejidoediciones):

Now, how will this help me live more comfortably? So far my whole experience of living in the [forest shelter](https://peakd.com/hive-123046/@fenngen/avhidzcb) has been pulled through with intuition and little knowledge. I think it would be nice to know the times for every process (as described in The Moon Chronological Calendar). Also, reading from the experience of those who have already walked this path for generations will surely be inspiring, and God knows that when days feel lonely, inspiration is a luxury.

### As for the batteries, I have two in sight, both used. The first one is bigger and newer, also more expensive. If anyone here knows anything about solar batteries I would be very grateful for your advice:

![bateria grande.JPG](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/fenngen/23w2eJgCNgeCfy1jKkAKcL44rJnyuCLLrSKDyJSFk3bozhanp2CyCAQks3nyhEW3gFWp9.JPG)

So, that's all for now. I think I'll be giving up on the 30 dollars daily experiment hahahaha, too much organization required, organization that I would rather direct elsewhere. Just for fun, I'm going to add up the total spent till today and divide it by the number of days since my last post:

Gas: $40.07
Dry fruit: $20.71
Wine and oil: $9.70
Books: $45.42
Battery: $66.79 (probably getting the larger one so I'll put that price)

Total sum: $182.69

My last post was 16 days ago so I'll be dividing that amount by 16.

182.69/16 = 11.41 🤣😂😅

What a wreck of a spender.

Wait, wait! I haven't considered the internet which is 1.19 dollars daily!

Total = 12.60

Oh well, I tried. From now I'll just do things as they come up. Hope you had fun reading all this craziness!

I think the natural construction book will come in quite handy for you for improving your forest shelter.
As for the batteries, you want the battery with the most amp hour capacity, it will last longer before the voltage drops. Of course, it also takes longer to charge, but that's how all batteries are. You will want to look for the AH rating. The Luxcel battery has a 100AH rating while the other battery is only 26 AH.

Hey, the whole point of the experiment was to prove to yourself that you could have whatever material abundance you needed, right? I think the vibe of it is more important than the exact dollar amount.

Those books look cool. I love cob building, which looks very similar to your photos. It's essentially you make a basket type frame and then use clay, sand, water, straw ...and according to at least one historian, sometimes dung too - to make the mud and slap it on. Like this video, where they make a traditional Celtic roundhouse: https://youtu.be/rsVGkZG0fv0

I LOVE your glass bottle windows. Are they whole bottles? I've always wanted to do something like that, if I ever build a cob house.
Edit: I just saw your other comment that those walls are from the guy who wrote the book. Still cool!

Your walls look so beautiful! Congrats on the book haul and your goal of living economically. One of the best books I've come across in regards to building is called the Barefoot Architect. As for our solar components, I've just modified car components to suit the house. We have car charger adapters and devices that run off DC without having to convert to AC. We're upgraded to two 150 AH lead-acid batteries from car batteries which is enough to provide lighting and charging of basic devices.

Actually those aren’t my walls, they’re from the people who wrote the books, but they are awesome! Regarding the batteries, I think with this one I should be fine but I’ll have to get a better inverter to be able to use it with the one I already have.
