Games, porn, netflix are just the start, immersive VR and advanced sex dolls might cause the fertility rate to plummet more dramatically. 

So as it turns out, there's quite a possibility that any sufficiently advanced civilisation other than our own does exist, but they've figured out how to create counterfeit utility where they are "blissing out" all day, whilst being serviced and fed by robots. In this scenario, any civilisation would already be in the maximum state of happiness and therefore very unlikely to seek love, art, or scientific discovery. This is quite the opposite to what we human beings find valuable. 

Is it a surprise that we haven't made first contact?
