El PNC Park de la ciudad de Pittsburg, en el estado de Pennsylvania, es un parque que apareció en el largometraje "Jack Reacher" del 2012, protagonizado por Tom Cruise. Y es que hasta ese muro fue a parar la línea de aire en el primer turno de Miguel Cabrera, la noche de ayer, para anotarse un doble que impulsaría la primera carrera de los Tigres de Detroit. Fue un turno clásico de *Miggy* intentando sacar la mayor cantidad de pitcheos al lanzador e irse con un lanzamiento alto por la banda contraria. Por poco la pelota no sobrepasó el muro y el tiro de regreso a segunda encontró a Cabrera parado sobre la base. Y es este tipo de desafíos lo que hace a Cabrera peligroso. Con el juego empatado a 1 carrera por lado, hombres anclados en las esquinas y en cuenta de cero bolas y un strike, el abridor Mitch Keller lanzó una *cutter* abajo y adentro, pero Miguel la estaba esperando y el swing orientó la pelota a la banda contraria. Sencillo entre primera y segunda. El hombre de tercera anota y los Tigres se fueron arriba con una ventaja que no perderían el resto de la noche.

Para alguien a quien le aguarda una distancia de 30 hits, para llegar a los 3.000 imparables, no pensaría nadie que es su más larga racha de hits consecutivos. Es decir, es la primera vez en su carrera que Miguel Cabrera batea una cadena como ésta ¿Y ahora? ¿Qué alegan quienes decían se encontraba acabado? No sé usted mi querido lector, pero éste redactor piensa que un pelotero acabado no hace el tipo de cosas que Miguel hace. Es cierto, el mejor momento de su carrera ya ha pasado. Pero lo que se vió anoche en el PNC Park, fue una lección de bateo.

Le faltan 21 partidos a los Tigres ¿Puede Cabrera llegar a los tres mil hits antes que acabe la temporada? La historia dice que no, pero el empeño que le está poniendo el *tigre mayor* nos hace dudar. Si lo logra se convertirá en el primer pelotero en la historia en arribar a los 500 jonrones y los 3000 hits en la misma temporada. Y no sé que piensen los electores del salón, pero eso es un boleto fijo para Cooperstown.
