Everyone fell in love with RH because of their clean modern interface. They introduced millions of new investors to the market with this. They achieved this by limiting the amount of information you see. RH shows the bare minimum in part to keep their app looking clean, but also to enable rash decisions they can capitalize on.

To make educated and informed decisions one needs to gather as much info on a given stock as possible and act accordingly. RH does not enable users to do this. Rather, they have treated the market like a casino with the design of their interface. After all RH is a business and the house always wins. There is plenty of articles online that dive deep into this. 

One of the biggest problems I see is in their lines graphs. Their graphs contain no keys. They show a particular stock price over an arbitrary amount of time which gives the impression that a stock is moving  more or less then it actually is. This enables users to act from their gut rather than their mind. Think of keys on a graph as resolution. Like looking at a mountain from 10ft away versus 10 miles away. Your perspective changes based on this. Without the keys there is no resolution or context to what you are looking at. 

I love casinos as much as the next guy. If that’s your bag and you love RH casino then more power to you. You do you. However, this is not a favorable approach to navigating the market for me. As much as I also love RHs UI more than any other brokerage tool, I want to see and interpret real data to drive my decisions in the market. 

My current approached consists of using Fidelity for slinging stocks and Yahoo Finance for checking my positions. With Fidelity, I have confidence that I’m not gonna get screwed with buying and selling restrictions on stocks like $GME which keeps happening with several other brokerages regardless of who is really at fault. They also have great customer service. I have never had an issue getting a hold of them and receiving answers to my questions. Try that with RH. With Yahoo Finance, you can link all your accounts and dig into real data on your positions which trains you to look at real data and make informed decisions. 

My hope for the future is that someone can develop a clean and modern interface similar to RHs without compromise in the data department to enable users to make informed decisions. Maybe it’s out there but I’ve yet to find it. 


TLDR: I’m probably more retarded than anyone here but choose to stay away from the Carole Baskins of brokerages aka RH, so I can make retarded decisions without becoming tiger snacks.
