I am one of those who like movies and series set in the Middle Ages, stumbling upon this movie in the Netflix menu caught my attention and looking at its main characters I became a little more interested in the movie. Although I had a feeling that I had seen it, but I didn't remember it well, I had the doubt.... Halfway through the movie I understood why I didn't remember having seen the movie. It turns out that it looks to me like an attempt to recycle the movie "47 ronnin". In all honesty I must say that the movie caught my attention, although I found it very predictable and not because I had seen it, but because of the construction of its plot.  

If you haven't seen it, you may like it or at least be entertained, for me it is far from being the best film in its style. But I will not stop recommending you to see it, I believe that every experience is personal, as well as this you read, which is nothing more than my appreciation, and not the attempt to build an absolute truth.

As always, I try to look beyond the obvious in a film. I believe that like all art, film manifests the human spirit, regardless of the quality of the film. Every film responds to a vestige of the being that we are. So trying to discover that which is beyond what the film shows is an interesting exercise.

In this film, which may not shine for its effects, script or story, there are valuable points that can make us reflect. In one of the dialogues, at an important moment in the plot, one of our protagonists says to the other:

# "Wounds to honor, are self-inflicted."

Honor is closely related to dignity, to our intrinsic value as a person. I am one of those people who think that every human being has an innate value, a dignity, an honor and that this cannot be affected by others, but depends directly on us. It is not something that someone else gives us, or even worse, can take it away from us. The film made me think about how fragile dignity can be when we ignore that it is a value intrinsic to every human being. But, this was not the only thing that made me reflect.

It also made me think about the value of loyalty among friends, a true friendship is an incredibly strong bond, it is a bond where loyalty predominates, to the point of doing things you never thought you would do for someone, that is, there is a strong and robust support, it is a nexus that is moved simply by love, and as love is so complex to catch in a definition, defining that love that makes you be really loyal to a special being in which friendship is invaluable is an extremely difficult task. Well, the film can make us think about friendship.

With this I have said, I want to recover a little of the value of the film that if you stay with the plot, effects, story, or characters, it can give more to talk about in a not so favorable sense. So if you haven't seen it, you can be encouraged to see the movie, but have the ability to look beyond it, or at least that's what I think, don't have too high expectations, because expecting a really fabulous movie will make you disappointed, because as every expectation is doomed to fail, or at least it seems the most reasonable possibility.

# Mis impresiones sobre “The Last Knights”

Soy de los que les gustan las películas y series ambientadas en la edad media, al toparme con esta película en el menú de Netflix me llamo la atención y al mirar sus protagonistas me interesé un poco más en la película. Aunque tenía una sensación de haberla visto, pero no lo recordaba bien, tenía la duda... A mitad de película entendí por qué no recordaba haber visto la película. Resulta que me parece un intento de reciclaje de la película “47 ronnin”. Con toda honestidad debo decir que la película atrapo mi atención, aunque me parecía muy predecible y no por el hecho de haberla visto, sino por la construcción de su trama.  

Si no la has visto, puede que te guste o por lo menos te entretenga, para mí está lejos de ser la mejor película en su estilo. Pero no por ello dejaré de recomendarte a verla, creo que cada experiencia es personal, así como esto que lees, que no es másq que mi apreciación, y no el  intento de construcción de una verdad absoluta. 

Como siempre, intento mirar más allá de lo obvio en una película. Creo que como todo arte, el cine manifiesta el espíritu humano, independientemente de la calidad de la película. Todo film, responde a un vestigio del ser que somos. Así que intentar descubrir eso que está más allá de lo que muestra la película es un ejercicio interesante. 

En esta película, que quizá no brille por sus efectos, guion o historia, hay puntos valiosos que nos pueden hacer reflexionar. En uno de los diálogos, en un momento importante en la trama, uno de nuestros protagonistas le dice al otro:

# “Las heridas en el honor, se autoinfligen”

El honor está estrechamente relacionado con la dignidad, con nuestro valor intrínseco por el hecho de ser persona. Soy de las personas que piensan que todo ser humano tiene un valor innato, una dignidad, un honor y que este no puede ser afectado por otros, sino que depende directamente sobre nosotros. No es algo que otra persona nos otorgue, o incluso algo peor, nos lo pueda arrebatar. La película me hizo pensar en lo frágil que puede ser la dignidad cuando ignoramos que es un valor intrínseco a todo ser humano. Pero, esto no fue lo único que me hizo reflexionar.

También me hizo pensar en el valor de la lealtad entre amigos, una amistad verdadera, es un lazo increíblemente fuerte, es un vínculo donde predomina la lealtad, a un punto de hacer cosas que no pensaste que harías por alguien, es decir, hay un apoyo robusto y fuerte, es un nexo que es movido simplemente por amor, y como el amor es tan complejo de atrapar en una definición, definir ese amor que te hace ser realmente leal a un ser especial en el cual la amistad es invaluable es una tarea en extremo difícil. Pues, la película nos puede hacer pensar en la amistad 

Con esto que he dicho, quiero recobrar un poco del valor de la película que de quedarse con la trama, efectos, historia, o personajes, puede dar más que hablar en un sentido no tan favorable. De modo que si no la has visto, puedes animarte a ver la película, pero ten la capacidad de mirar más allá, o por lo menos eso es lo que yo pienso, no tengas expectativas muy altas, porque de esperar una película realmente fabulosa te hará decepcionarte, ya que como toda expectativa eta condenada al fracaso, o por lo menos parece la posibilidad más razonable.
