In this year there have been many events of different types and formats about Hive, educational events, informative events, meetups, congresses, expo fairs, hivefest, in short, an endless number of incredible things. In one way or another the community has transcended the virtual and has taken Hive to places that mere virtuality does not make possible. This social phenomenon around Hive has made me wonder about what a Hive should be. Let me explain, at the marketing level I know that there are people working hard to unify the image of Hive, and by image I do not mean merely visual, but also that they have worked on the unification of criteria with respect to what is said about Hive.

People like @guiltyparties, @crimsonclad, @theycallmedan, @eddiespino, the whole team of @hivecreators and @hivecreatorsday have joined efforts in building solid criteria in the ecosystem, and although I do not know if this is the most appropriate term, unifying criteria in this area is a vital and important work, because what we say and show builds the image of the entire Hive ecosystem.

As a lover of philosophy, I like to see things from philosophy, only through the lens of the philosopher I try to build myself, I make an effort to build and understand my world. There is a Spanish author: Maria Zambrano, (for me, the most important philosopher of the last century) wrote a text called "Person and Democracy" in 1958. In that essay we find the best definitions of democracy, we also find an interesting anthropological perspective

"If democracy had to be defined, it could be done by saying that it is the society in which it is not only permitted, but demanded, to be a person".

Now, in this opportunity I do not intend to talk about democracy or anything like that, I bring this quote from Maria Zambrano because it can help us by analogy to build the definition of what it means to be a Hiver. Let's stay only with the last two words of the sentence I just quoted; "...to be a person". Being a Hiver, first of all, implies being a person. Now, before going on, let us briefly define what it means to be a person, it is at this point that we begin to tread on the grounds of philosophical anthropology.

Being persons is nothing more than assuming our individuality, what makes us persons is what makes us unique and unrepeatable, now, being able to recognize ourselves as persons does not depend only on myself as an individual, but depends on the other, when we look in a mirror we see ourselves, but when we come across someone else, we notice that there are similar phenotypic traits but we are not identical, we are not the same, and we recognize each other and only then opens the way to the "we".

In Hive the same thing happens, we are persons as individual beings, but we are a community insofar as we know ourselves together, we recognize ourselves in front of each other. Being a person is not only epistemologically related or the way in which we know ourselves, but also has profound ethical implications. Since in the outline of what can be said from an anthropological point of view, but as good anthropology implies an ethics, in other words a way of behaving or in this case a way of coexisting as part of a community.

Being a person denotes the possession of an individual ethic, that is to say, that which we conceive as the correct way of being and doing things, our way of being in the world responds to a certain ethic. Now, belonging to a community imprints an additional aspect to the individual, indeed we are people as individuals, but we are people in relationship, but it is not just any relationship, it is a relationship framed around a web ecosystem3, now then, the question in this dissertation is what does it imply to be a hiver?

The first thing we should consider is to try to understand what Hive is about, to investigate, to ask, to read, to document what Hive is, because it is very easy to say the simplest thing, something like: "Hive is a decentralized blockchain", and although that is true, how conscious are we of knowing what the words blockchain and decentralization imply? And while this is perhaps something that for someone just starting out in the ecosystem is out of their reach, it's fine, but not for those who already have a year or more under their belt.

On the other hand, there is a class that they teach in Hive classes from scratch that for me represent a real gem, and I refer to the "unwritten rules of Hive" if we think about the creation of content, indeed there are things that are taken for granted among the community, but for someone who is coming would not have to know them. The implicit reveals that there are clear criteria, and if they are implicit it means that the community has accepted them as their own.

So, being a Hive person implies a sense of ownership of the ecosystem, understanding it and trying to understand it more and more, implies that our individual actions can contribute in some way to the ecosystem, but the feeling of ownership is built day by day. To be a person is to understand that we live in relationship, and to know above all that the ecosystem is constantly growing, because no matter where you look at Hive, the web3 is being built.
