So let's dig into what makes a good blog post and why anyone would care about its length in the first place. <h3> Research </h3> The best way to determine the ideal length for your blog post is by doing research on the topic. I know, it kinda sucks because you have to spend some time to find out the juicy information that matters. But trust me, it's worth it. - The first step in determining the ideal length of a blog post is by doing some keyword research. You want to use tools like Google Keyword Planner and Wordstream to see what people are searching for related to the topic of your blog post. - Second, start thinking about how much time people can spend reading a piece of content while they're still engaged with it (and not scrolling down or opening another tab). This will help you determine how long or short each section should be within your article - keeping in mind that most people will only read 1-3 sentences before getting bored/distracted/bored again! <h3> 300 Words Minimum Target </h3> Your content should be at least 300 words in length. If you're a new blogger, don't worry about making your blog posts long enough to compete with established peeps on the trending page - just aim for 300 words at first. 300 words is the minimum length that can be considered a blog post and it's also a good target length for most blog posts. This number comes from research conducted by HubSpot which found that readers tend to prefer and engage with longer content (more than 600 words) when they're searching for answers rather than shorter pieces (150-500). <h3> 1500 Words - Woah! Stop There </h3> The attention span of people has gone down. Moreover, there are different kinds of media they can feed into. You should be able to tell your story in less than 1500 words. If you can't tell the whole story in that amount of space, then either you need to rethink your topic or find a way to expand it into a two or three-part series depending upon the word count. Nobody has time to read a big block of text if it's uninteresting. If you're writing about something as broad and varied as digital marketing strategy, or the basics of crypto & blockchain then you needn't worry about word count at all. You can take up as much space as needed to explain your point of view on the subject. Just don't overdo it unless it's absolutely necessary. <h3>What's The Ideal Length?</h3> The ideal length should be between 800-1200 words. It's the sweet spot! This is enough to tell your story and explain your point of view, but not so long that people won’t read it. In fact, studies show that most people will stop reading after the fifth paragraph. The number of words you choose depends on what kind of content you are writing, but generally speaking, the ideal length is between 800 and 1200 words. <h3> Replace Words With Graphics </h3> You should write as much as you need to tell your story effectively. To make it even more compelling and presentable, you can replace words with pictures and graphics. Yes, I think a minimum of 300 words are needed to call it a post. Less than 300 is less effort while between 500-600 is sufficient that ideally, a post should have. It depends on everyone's preference but most people avoid reading lengthy posts unless the content is not extraordinary.
