It was an inconsequential birthday and a day to remember. It was quiet and gentle, filled with happy, funny and unexpected moments that I shall treasure.

There were messages and conversations with dear ones near and far, old and new.  Including a "proper", not text, transcontinental and timezone get together.

Life happens, so being in touch can be delayed.  It's wonderful because the day's loveliness just goes on. It really is the thought that counts. 

We had a little gathering at the local - not because of Covid, but because that's what I wanted. It included bubbly with a rare public toast from The Husband. And mad-about-anything-Mexican Pixie's mandatory celebratory shot of Tequila. The last time that happened, we were seeing in the new year, 2020. Nobody dreamed that we would go on to all eat *sewe sakke sout* (seven sacks of salt) in what turned out to be an unimaginably hard and difficult year. Not just for us, but the world.
