India: Cardano's EMURGO Blockchain Academy Set To Train 2500 Devs In 12 Months
Emurgo is the commercial arm of Cardano which is a 3rd generation blockchain technology project. It also serves as the global education wing and has launched it’s academy in India to train software developers in blockchain technology. 

It will be setting up offices in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Mumbai by 2020 and tie-up with 200 institutions by end of 2019. It aims to train 2500 devs in one year from the inception of its program.

The blockchain academy program will be 175 hours long and the training is set to commence from April 2019 according to [ET](https://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/people/emurgo-academy-to-train-2500-blockchain-developers-in-a-year/68096608).

I've been saying this for far too long. India will be one of the hubs for blockchain developers in the years to come and a majority of devs in the space will emerge from India. Emurgo is just one of the many initiatives making this happen. 

>“Emurgo majorly looks to fill the gap in the SME and startup sector,” said E Venkatesan, Chief executive officer, Emurgo Academy. Currently, edtech firms like Udacity, Coursera, Edureka, Simplilearn also provides blockchain courses. 

Emurgo's blockchain academy in India hopes to train fresh talent and working professionals from the software domain with experts from blockchain domain providing a bulk of the training via online and offline classes. 

>The students will further be evaluated by CXOs who can mentor them with the tools required for particular architecture.

>Largely the institution will try to fill the gap in the industry. As the blockchain industry is quite nascent, the ecosystem is undergoing a talent crunch. While corporates have started in-house training for their employees, startups and SMEs are majorly facing the heat. 

Overall this is a fantastic development for the nascent blockchain industry in India where many startups are vying to be the top player in the next few years. I hope these initiatives along with industry relevant regulations will enable a few blockchain unicorns emerge in this space. 

I'm also hoping many of the devs will eventually start building on Steem which I think would be simply incredible if it were to happen.
