Using CoinGecko To Keep Up With The Crypto Markets
[CoinGecko](https://www.coingecko.com) is a really nice service that competes with CoinMarketCap (CMC) and Coincap.io (CC). These guys have been improving their service since their launch. In the past week or so I found myself using CoinGecko a fair amount along with it's rivals. 

I had mostly switched over to CC from CMC but now I'm checking CoinGecko and CC regularly when I'm at my desk.

The website has some interesting features that caught my attention such as their [ICO tracker](https://www.coingecko.com/en/ico) which tells you the number of days before an ICO begins. Even though I haven't invested in ICOs in a while this allows me to make note of any interesting new project and dive deeper later on. 

Another feature All time high allows you to see the price drop from ATH levels of about 100 tokens. Pretty cool right? That's not all as they have many other features and have over 3000 coins listed across 275 exchanges. That's a hefty list.

Overtime I would like to see a real time assessment similar to CoinCap at @coingecko along with a slick UI which would make me stick with the site perhaps over other options. 

Their trending list shows the top gainers which should give you some idea on the coins to place your bets on in the days to come. 

Data analysis is an important part of investment and any website that shows accurate information is always in demand. If you are a blogger they also have the option of adding their widget to your website. 

There are many other features such as Beam, Favourites, Events, Videos, Buzz amongst others that will satiate your appetite for cryptocurrency data research. As far as accuracy of data is concerned I don't have a way to check that. 

Generally the values displayed varies from one site to another but seems quite okay on CoinGecko. Like I said, real time update capabilities will be well received by the audience. 

CoinGecko Official App is available on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coingecko.coingeckoapp&hl=en) and [App Store](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/coingecko-bitcoin-crypto-app/id1390323960?mt=8) which will make it easier to keep track of your favourite cryptocurrency projects.

I mentioned about ICO tracking earlier. However, it would be great to remember that ICOs have been fading away lately and STOs are likely to become the next big thing and CoinGecko will have this information as well. 

One of the best things about them is the fact that they use the Steem blockchain and their username is @coingecko. Be sure to check them out when you can.

That seems to be the trend towards better UI/UX for the average crypto users. 

CoinGecko does update the price of the coins in real time, only it's not as flashy as other websites, as @superoo7 mentioned.

I'll take note on this though! And agree that @coingecko can't hurt to have a design update when the time is right!

Thank you for the additional information. I will edit and add it to my post along with the STO bit in sometime. Infact I'm quite excited about STOs. It should be become very popular in the year or two to come. Hey @firepower. I love @coingecko. It's gives you so many parameters and history of a crypto coin. Their UI is pretty neat and compact. They are on STEEM too and quite active which makes me like them even more. :D

I used to use coingecko a long time ago because it was the only one which showed steem prices in INR. But when I came to know about Blockfolio and coinmarketcap, all my needs were fulfilled and I left coingecko.

That is really nice but sometimes coingecko does not show correct prices. For example one day I was searching for price of Steem and coingecko showed that it was 0.35 USD whereas coinmarketcap and coincap showed 0.38 USD. ICO tracker in coingecko is quite awesome. But I feel that nowadays ICOs are losing popularity and STO are getting somewhat popular.

Thank you for the feedback! With so many exchanges we are currently tracking,  some markets will surely swing wildly, affecting our aggregate price. We are still optimizing our system to exclude markets trading at wild prices (So you won't know if suddenly someone is buying Steem at insane prices 😞)

It's a dilemma for us that we are constantly tuning a balance for. Hope you will still use CoinGecko.com!

STO is a space we're anticipating to bloom as soon as the regulations allow it.

We won't see a revival of ICO anytime soon though. If anything, they will either die out or adapt into STO.

The best tracker by far is Messari.io .  CG is ok, but doesnt have the level of detail that Messari has gone into, and doesnt let u compose your own dashboards.

Gotta say, their acquisition of OCFX and Agora was a smart one.

On the other hand, CG does have a Dashboard that shows coins in your watchlist. Not as fancy as Messari though, but we do try to improve our UI over time.

Thanks for finding Coingecko useful, we do have real time price feed, but the price update are just simple green red font blinking on the price when it's being updated (not as fancy as cc).  Feel free to give us feedback so that we can further improve our website.
