Today was a strange and kind of scary one in my fight against edema. I might have had a setback or a breakthrough. I hope it is the latter.

Last night I noticed my left arm and hand blowing up like a balloon. This is not a good sign, and so I have been waving my arm up in the air ever since. 

When edema travels above your heart, it is harder to get rid of and I wondered why this was happening. I’ve been doing pretty good with the medications and getting smaller in girth. More fluid is coming out like it should and I have been feeling hopeful.

Then at the same time I noticed my hand at twice its size, I started to feel wetness at my feet. It turns out the “weeping edema” I have been having on my lower legs turned into an actual flood!

I have been having fluid leaking from the pores of my lower legs for weeks if not months. This has been in spots and soaks through the leggings I use in only a few hours. 

Now so much fluid is coming out of my legs that it is pooling on the floor in minutes. I can watch rivers running out from under the leggings and they are soaked though as soon as I put them on. This is still happening 24 hours later, but not quite as fast. 

Additionally, my joint pain is off the charts! It is so bad that I am shaking and feel like throwing up. No pain pill is strong enough for this.

So now I am in the shower every hour or so, trying to keep my legs clean at least. I’m doing laundry every couple of hours and wearing the leggings until the sopping mess makes me sick. I can dump out my sandals every few minutes and create a nice pool of fluid on the floor.

I have to be careful on my many trips to the bathroom and laundry. Edema slime is much slipperier than water, and I do not need to be falling by slipping off my shoes.  

At least the fluid is clear, does not smell, and does not seem infected. I’m still smaller overall and still continuing to use the toilet frequently. I’m still taking the meds and praying, praying, praying.

Maybe my body is just doing all if can to get rid of all the fluid. Obviously this fluid is not in my urinary tract, and so it might just be leaving by the path of least resistance. My lower legs seem a bit smaller and the flood is subsiding a bit. All of the edema-filled areas on my body are less “rock-hard” now too. 

Needless to say, I have been in bed for most of yet another day. It is 30 minutes on the computer and then to the shower, laundry, and then back to bed. 

I have less than 3 weeks until my visa trip I cannot yet afford or even imagine how I will be physically able to do it. Please God heal me from this misery as soon as you possibly can.
