<p><div class="text-justify">En el 2015 John Scofield se volvió a reunir con el reconocido saxofonista tenor de post-bop Joe Lovano para formar un cuarteto, como habían hecho anteriormente en <em>Time on My Hands</em> (1990), <em>Meant to Be</em> (1991) y <em>What We Do</em> (1993), y publicó <em>Past Present</em>, en el que eligieron a Larry Grenadier al contrabajo y Bill Stewart a la batería. Al igual que los anteriores, el álbum es completamente acústico con jazz previo al jazz fusión, lo interpretaron en el TD Ottawa Jazz Festival y ganó un premio Grammy al mejor álbum de jazz instrumental. <p><blockquote><div class="text-justify">In 2015 John Scofield rejoined recognized post-bop tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano to create a quartet, as they had previously done in <em>Time on My Hands</em> (1990), <em>Meant to Be</em> (1991) and <em>What We Do</em> (1993), and released <em>Past Present</em>, in which they chose Larry Grenadier on double bass and Bill Stewart on drums. Like the previous ones, this album is completely acoustic with pre-fusion jazz, they performed it at the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival and won a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. Scofield plays an amped, semi-hollow-body guitar and provides all the tracks inspired by his son’s cancer death in 2013. Although the music dates back to the golden age of jazz, before rock was introduced in it, it’s neither conventional nor boring, but dynamic and based on soul jazz and swing post-bop. Lovano’s saxophone and Scofield’s guitar dance on velvet weaving lines in and around each other giving the themes an organic and tactile quality.</div></blockquote></p>

<p><div class="text-justify">En el 2016 Scofield lanzó <em>Country for Old Men</em> con reelaboración radical de canciones country en clave de jazz moderno, y ganó un premio Grammy al mejor álbum de jazz instrumental y otro al mejor solo improvisado de jazz con la versión de «I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry» del cantante y compositor Hank Williams. Hacía dos años que había fundado el cuarteto de estrellas Hudson con el organista y teclista John Medeski (de Medeski Martin & Wood), el contrabajista Larry Grenadier y el batería Jack DeJohnette. At first they gave a memorable concert at the Woodstock Jazz Festival, and this encouraged them to record <em>Hudson</em> in 2017, which contains originals by bandmembers, but also new renditions of famous songs by Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell and others.</div></blockquote></p>

Aquí podemos encontrar folk, country-soul, blues, baladas, hard bop, post-bop y jazz-funk. Sus últimos trabajos han sido <em>Swallow Tales</em> (2020) en trío, <em>John Scofield</em> (2022) en solitario y <em>Uncle John’s Band</em> también en trío (2023) para el sello ECM.
