Adding To Fence, Cleaning and Ham Radio Shelf, Scouts Wednesday

<b>We are well into rain season now and the storms just keep rolling through. It wasn't a big storm overnight but it wet the ground and sprinkled a bit while we soaked. With the time change coming the only time we will be soaking in daylight will be weekends. Speaking of the time change it is absolute garbage that Washington state voted to stop the time change but we are waiting on the useless and completely ineffectual federal government to okay it. It's pretty obvious what a shit show that has been for the past 2 years so the likelihood of us actually getting what we voted for is slim to none.

The pallets have been sitting next to sheep pen for a few months and have been rained on steadily which makes them super heavy. They are 12 foot long pallets so weigh a good bit anyway but the water weight makes them impossible to carry by myself. I've used this technique many times and it works nearly flawlessly. Using the hand truck I set one end of the pallet on it and when I pickup the other end the hand truck presses against the pallet and becomes a pair of wheels for me to push the pallet with.

After pulling the fence down around the hot tub I pushed the pallet up next to it then stood it on edge and slid it through the lilac bushes to rest against the privacy fence.

I then slid the pallet along the fence to the other end and got it set into place. It is still a bit low on the top edge which will get one of the reclaimed boards from the studio mounted to it once I get the thing mounted in place. I have found more uses for these pallets than most anything on the farm.

Much of my morning was spent trying to clean my desk around my computer. It had gotten out of hand and needed a good going over. The main reason is that I built a shelf for my ham radio setup to sit on. I took a piece of 3/4" plywood 11" deep by 20 1/2" wide and drilled holes along the two sides. I took a piece of ripped down cedar t&g leftover from the cooler and cut two pieces to mount to the shelf.

The cedar got mounted to the bottom side of the shelf to use as my mounting brackets on the wall. I cut a 1" hole in the center back of the board for the wires to run through and had to put in sheetrock screw plugs in the wall but it is super solid now. My radio and power supply will be here Friday and will easily sit side by side on the shelf. I will be mounting my antenna switch and lightning arrestor to the underside of the shelf to save room on top.

Scouts was just 2 of the families and a mellow meeting. They did flags and the oath and law after we finally got going.

The bulk of the meeting was going back over first aid stuffs. Slings, compression bandages, and bandaging were run through again. The repetition is needed right now for the concepts to stick well. With my boys they both really need to keep up on their first aid with how much they hurt themselves around the farm. I've seen J come in the house and go straight to the first aid shelves and deal with himself.

We ended our night back soaking. I got my order of 25 pounds of calcium and we have the lid lifter ordered which should be here Monday so early next week I will be draining the tub again  so I can install the lift. That will give a good opportunity to really get the fresh water to the correct levels, namely the calcium.

Raining all day today it looks like and there is possible snow in the 7 day forecast. I have so much cleanup that needs to be done still before the snow flies so I will likely be getting wet today while I work on that after getting NaNo out of the way for the day. J has the Scholastic book fair at school so this afternoon we are all going to go to that as I know there are a few books he wants badly. *(Shucks, he wants to read... I think we can accommodate him.)*
