Batch 58 Finished, Co-op Delivery, Harvest, Camping At Tree House, Swimming, Thimbleberries - Tuesday

<b>I got a modicum of a normal morning before I had to be out the door and on the road to make my delivery to the co-op.

First though I pulled the finished trays from the freeze dryer. 3 trays of kale and 2 trays of sweet basil. I left them on the stove until I got home when I bagged them in produce bags for temporary.

I took 71 pounds of mixed beans and 6 pounds of summer squash to the co-op and was there shortly after 8 am. I always try to arrive first thing for traffic and for getting home earlier so it doesn't disrupt my day so much. I got to meet our new procurement person which helped as now we are in contact about sales, which is a very good thing.

28 pounds of squash did not fit in the single tub thought I tried to make them. A few were lost in transit to the cooler. I was in a hurry to get the picking done so I could get the boys and myself packed and on the road to the camp.

The plants are almost completely filled in in the area now and my seed squash are getting HUGE. Today I was amazed to see each of the 3 and am not sure how long I should let them go before harvesting them. I want the seeds well formed so I am on the side of letting them go as long as possible.

Finally I got everything loaded up and the boys had been in the truck for nearly half an hour  when we finally got headed north. It is only a 20 minute drive to the lake and the scout camp. I had the tent setup before 11am and once the boys had theirs setup in one of the tree houses I got them hotdogs ready for lunch.

It was supposed to be over 100F yesterday but the clouds moved over and kept it from being unbearably hot. It really helped use stay at the water for 3 hours. We got down to the dock at noon and headed back to the camp at 3pm. The sun would come out every now and then and warm the boys up who would get to the point of full body shivering. R was a bit blue in the lips and I told him to go bury himself in the dry warm sand. It helped rather quickly to warm him up.

@stryeyz came up in the afternoon for the night and we were wandering and found that all the thimbleberry bushes were ripening. We got a few handfuls of super ripe berries and nicely red fingers from the effort.

Everyone made their dinners and the boys all played hard until dark. Us adults sat around and talked until about 10pm when we all called it for the night. This morning we woke to very tiny sprinkles of rain from a system that as moving north to the east of us.
