<b>Yesterday morning I looked at the bag of fly predators and saw little tiny ones were crawling around the inside, they had begun to hatch. This is the first time we have gotten them so I was a bit unsure of what to expect or how long it would take them to begin to hatch.

The morning was a bit chilly and breezy so I wanted to wait a bit to spread them out. As I looked around the farm for where I could put them I realized that I have a very limited number of places that the chickens CAN'T get to which means I have limited places to spread the fly predators since the birds will devour them. I sprinkled some in the yard where the dog is then some in my garden.

The rest got split between 3 yogurt cups and one placed in the wood storage on the side of the coop and the other 2 I set on the shelf in the sheep hut. The fly predator can travel 150 feet to the manure but this way keeps them from getting eaten and has them right in the middle of the pen where they only have to travel a few feet. After picking J up from school I hooked the trailer up and got the barrel locked down for my trip to town for grain this morning which I have already gone and done.

Around 3 I got a fire going in the pit and kept it going all afternoon. The winds were still chilly so the fire felt nice to warm next to in the warm sunlight.

I found a couple of shorter pieces of clothes line in the tool shed and I figured I might as well see if I could put them up. There was enough room and enough length of line that I put two hooks screwed in to the bend and put the line up. It is only a 20 foot length but gives us 50% more clothes line.

One of my two splitting mauls got a broken handle recently and I took a bit of time to swap out the handle.

First to get the old one out I had to remove the metal wedge for which I drilled 4 holes around it then used the chisels to cut the wood away until I could finally yank the wedge out with pliers.

One of the fat punches that I recently found in my tap and die case worked perfectly to pound the old handle out of the maul head.

I took the wire brush on the Dremel to the inside to remove the rust and hopefully make the handle slide in easier.

I actually had a spare handle on hand and I had to work the end down on the sander a bit to get it to fit the opening.

I pounded on the handle with the hand sledge then with the other splitting maul but I was not able to get the handle to seat fully. It is in there pretty tight but not enough. I figured it will be good for the time being as I was able to use it to split a few logs and the head stayed on.

Jax was sitting staring up the hill with his nose going spastically as he sniffed the waves of scent.

I got beefallo burger patties made and set aside to grill. @stryeyz was visiting her co-worker after she got off work so it was a little later when I got them on the grill.

After dinner we headed down to pickup the Azure order which had my pepper plants. I ordered my peppers from them last year and they did extremely well thanks to the heat wave. This year is far cooler and wetter than last year so I am not sure the peppers will do quite as well, we will see what the summer brings.

It took a bit to sort the co-op orders before we got out to soak. I was not able to stay out too late since I was up at 5am this morning to head to town for grain.

It's raining again today but not a lot. Super cool this morning as I walked to the truck our bald eagles flew from the tree over the house to the topped tree by the coop and landed on the top. They were super chatty and looking down at me as I talked to them. Then the fish flopped its tail off the side and was still moving. The one eagle looked wet like it had splashed in the water to get the fish. I had to leave for town and they were still atop the tree when I drove off. 

I have to empty the grain barrels this morning, cut the boys' hair as J hacked his bangs to hell yesterday, people will be stopping by to pickup their co-op orders, and I need to put in my orders for garden supplies as I will be needing irrigation line soon.
