Roosters, Weedeating, Cleaning Cooler, Built New Harvest Table, Clover, Finished Speaker Box, Homemade Tortillas - Tuesday
<b>I opened up the chicken huts yesterday morning to find a couple more roosters that have been getting beaten up, so they got put into a much larger "quarantine" area where the other roosters won't be hurting them. One sure fire way to know it is time to butcher a bunch of roosters.

The squash flowers were nicely opened in the morning sun.

Part of the morning was spent weedeating again. While plowing through the grassy areas I found some quite large mushrooms all popped up. The larger ones are bigger than my hand and look a lot like portabellas.

I got through a tank of gas before I was hot and was ready to be done. Both sides of the driveway are cut and this morning I will go do the inner yard and the creek side.

After a break to cool down I headed out to the coop to work on cleanup. I first swept the floor and emptied a feed bin to make room then got the cooler opened and swept out. It had gotten a bit screwed up from the squash that went bad so I had some serious cleaning to do.

After running a gallon of gas up the hill to our friend who was stuck on the side of the road on her way to the gas station I had to scrounge around the house and the best thing I could come up with was the Norwex degreaser. I made a spray bottle of the concentrate and very liberally applied it to the entire floor and the inside of the fridge. I let it sit for about 10 minutes while I found the tools I wanted for scraping the ick off the floor.

A lot of scraping, mopping with paper towels, and reapplying the degreaser in spots and I had the cooler fairly well cleaned. I got it turned on and cooling down and within a half hour it was down to 44F.

I had removed the harvest table that was a 2 foot square made of metal from shelving and I needed to build myself a new harvest table. I wandered the farm for a while looking for the right piece of wood and finally found it under the carport. A piece of wood that came from the basement is the perfect size. I pulled a couple of 2x4s out and cut them to size and fixed the plywood to them.

2 legs, a couple of shims, and the thing is locked nicely in place.

My scale hung from one of the rafters but I needed it moved to the side so I installed a cross bar which allowed me to move the hook to the side which gives me enough space on the table.

Then I rummaged in the tool shed and found the old pull chain light base that had been in the cooler. The pull chain on it died from the moisture but the light will stay on once the contacts were scrubbed a bit. I wired it into the coop lights and then mounted it right above the harvest table. It makes a whole world of difference now.

With the cooler cleaned and running again I took a bit of time to finish my speaker box. I got some scrap 2x6 and cut them to length and installed them on the panel.

R came running up with a 4 leafed clover he had just found in the pathway.

The back panel got cut to size but I don't have a 2" exactly hole saw so the holes for the speaker connectors didn't sit tight. I used 4 screws with the surface washers to hold them down. The box is all together and I tested on the house speaker but it will likely work better in the shop.

@stryeyz wanted to make tortillas for fish tacos for dinner so the table got setup in the living room and the lefse cooker was brought out.

I ended up tending the tortillas as they cooked while the boys rolled them out. They did a pretty good job and the tortillas were mostly thick enough.

The boys had picked a couple pounds of peas from the plants earlier but I didn't get a shot of them till they were almost gone.

I had turned the power to the spa off mid day and when we went to get in in the evening it was still at temp, it hadn't cooled at all. We have it set to 90F but it keeps staying at 100F. I have to add cold water to bring the temp down since it can't seem to do it on its own.

Today I am going to be weedeating again this morning before it gets warm, I have to get everything together for camping tomorrow night, research meat grinders, prep butcher area for Saturday, get a fire going this afternoon to grill this evening, and make sure the boys get their stuff ready for camping.
