Sometimes timing is PERFECT!

I decided I would not do any tilling in the main garden today after moving a stack of 8 pallets that are 12ftx4ft out of the garden. With that I suddenly afforded the time to go to north 40 to get more dog food and while there I made sure to look for new pins for the wheel on the tiller. The one side has been great for ever now but the trouble side has been just that, trouble. So after getting back from N40 with the boys I installed a new cotter clip into the trouble wheel, with some effort from a massive pair of channel locks.  I then went to do a little bit of tilling in a small spot I have, just 4 quick rows, and go figure the wheel clip that has been good forever broke.

Well, isn't that some amazing timing. I had just picked up a couple of sets of new clips and it now decides to break. So after a short time I had the new clip installed and was back tilling.

I am just a bit amazed at the timing of it all. It is a small thing, the wheel clip, but it is an integral part of the machine and it working properly. It could have broken yesterday, tomorrow, or in a week, but it broke right after I got new clips.

Seriously this one thing made my day. Normally I have enough stuff on hand to make something work but this time I needed the actual part, not a make shift  "it'll-do" piece. Makes me think I need to start hitting up yard sales looking for the boxes of bobbles and do-dads from peoples garages, that's were I tend to find most of my needed parts around the farm.
