Today the VA sent out their monthly email and in it they have a bit about the ability of veterans with a service connected disability to receive a free national parks pass. This is a stupidly amazingly good thing to have happen!  The entrance cost to any of the major national parks is $40 plus per car and if you want to visit more than a couple it gets to prohibitively expensive. For many veterans they are dealing with various issues due to their service and many studies have shown that being outdoors in nature has a calming and balancing effect. While national parks are not the most peaceful due to the number of people near the main areas, there are countless areas for us to go and "get lost" in.

I am getting mine tomorrow from our local BLM office. We are going on a trip to see family and this pass will come in SUPER handy! Honestly this is one of the few good things I see come from the VA.
