<div class="text-justify">Hello everyone! Today it's the day I will share with you the photos I took of Teggiano, the town where my accountant own the agritourism where my boyfriend and I were hosted for a weekend-holiday last month, in Cilento, Campania.

<div class="tex-justify">To give an overview or the cultural background of Cilento, I will start giving the exact definition of the word "cilento", which is the southern part of Italian region Campania. The word <b>CILENTO</b> comes from Latin cis-Alentum", which means "on this side of the Alento River". However, today the river Alento is no longer the border of the Cilento. Originally, Cilento was part of the Lucania region. Together with the area of Vallo del Diano, Cilento is now part of the province of Salerno, one of the main cities of Campania together with Naples and Caserta.</div>

<div class="text-justify">Cilento comprehends a wide zone, which runs from the nourther part of the mountains chain of Alburni till the eastern side of the Vallo del Diano. 
From 1991, when the National Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano was established, most of the territories are protected areas; almost 181K hectare of land are part of the Park, involving also 8 different mount communities and 80 villages. </div>

<div class="text-justify">Teggiano is a small village combined into two sides: the ancient village, which is on the upper side of the mount, and the most recent, which is located around the fields and represents the more agriculture-based population. Teggiano is strategically located for touristic purposed; indeed, it is only 20-30' away from all the main attractions of Cilento, both natural and historical. I have already talked about the Oasis of Venus' hair and Certosa di Padula, but I still have some more attractions to show you in the following posts.</div>

<div class="text-justify">Because the agritourism was in the countryside of Teggiano, my accountant recommended to go visit the upper village, which indeed is very cute. Keep in mind that, as already mentioned, almost the entire area of Cilento is protected and is part of UNESCO, which means that is considered to be a world heritage site.</div>

<div class="text-justify">The name Teggiano comes from Diano, which gives the name to the entire valley. The town is a medieval gem where only 7555 people live. However, you should know that "Teggianesi", the locals, are very proud of their town and their traditions, and they truly believe that they live in a big city. </div>

<div class="text-justify">Coming from a big city like Rome, it made me smile to hear from locals that they felt like living in a big town, where people from all over Italy come to join the annual festival of Teggiano. Of course, as every little town in Italy, also Teggiano has its own celebrations, traditions, and festival, but let's say it's hard to believe that this town would recall so many people from every where in Italy just for that day of festival.</div>

<div class="text-justify">I guess it's all a matter of perception and habits. I got used to being invisible since I was a kid: living in the Eternal City makes you feel like you're literally nobody, no one really knows you when you walk in the street. Instead, within little communities such as this town, it's just normal to knowing everyone in the village, and knowing everyone's life. To some extent, living in a small community like Teggiano is like living in an extended family.</div>

<div class="text-justify">It literally took us 15' walking slowly to see Teggiano all around. It was worth visiting though, especially because of the beautiful view over the valley that you can enjoy standing from the main central terrace of the village. Beautiful!</div>

<div class="text-justify">Ciao a tutti! Oggi è il giorno in cui condividerò con voi le foto che ho scattato a Teggiano, il paese dove il mio commercialista possiede l'agriturismo dove io e il mio ragazzo siamo stati ospitati per un weekend-vacanza il mese scorso, nel Cilento, in Campania.

<div class="tex-justify">Per dare una panoramica del background culturale del Cilento, inizierò a dare l'esatta definizione della parola "cilento", che è la parte meridionale della regione italiana Campania. La parola <b>CILENTO</b> deriva dal latino cis-Alentum", che significa "da questa parte del fiume Alento". Tuttavia, oggi il fiume Alento non è più il confine del Cilento. In origine, il Cilento faceva parte della regione Lucania. Insieme alla zona del Vallo del Diano, il Cilento fa oggi parte della provincia di Salerno, una delle principali città della Campania insieme a Napoli e Caserta.</div>

<div class="text-justify">Il Cilento comprende un'ampia zona, che va dalla parte settentrionale della catena montuosa degli Alburni fino al versante orientale del Vallo del Diano.
Dal 1991, anno in cui è stato istituito il Parco Nazionale del Cilento e Vallo di Diano, la maggior parte dei territori sono aree protette; fanno parte del Parco quasi 181mila ettari di territorio, coinvolgendo anche 8 diverse comunità montane e 80 comuni. </div>

<div class="text-justify">Teggiano è un piccolo borgo unito in due parti: il borgo antico, che si trova sulla parte alta del monte, e il più recente, che si trova intorno ai campi e rappresenta la parte della popolazione basata su agricolutra e allevamento. Teggiano è in posizione strategica a scopo turistico; dista infatti solo 20-30' da tutte le principali attrazioni del Cilento, sia naturali che storiche. Ho già parlato dell'Oasi dei capelli di Venere e della Certosa di Padula, ma ho ancora altre attrazioni da mostrarvi nei prossimi post.</div>

<div class="text-justify">Poiché l'agriturismo era nella campagna di Teggiano, il mio commercialista mi ha consigliato di andare a visitare il borgo alto, che in effetti è molto carino. Tieni presente che, come già accennato, quasi l'intera area del Cilento è protetta e fa parte dell'UNESCO, il che significa che è considerato patrimonio dell'umanità.</div>

<div class="text-justify">Il nome Teggiano deriva da Diano, che dà il nome all'intera valle. La città è un gioiello medievale dove vivono solo 7555 persone. Tuttavia, devi sapere che i "Teggianesi", i locali, sono molto orgogliosi della loro città e delle loro tradizioni, e credono davvero di vivere in una grande città. </div>

<div class="text-justify">Venendo da una grande città come Roma, mi ha fatto sorridere sentire dalla gente del posto che sembrava di vivere in una grande città, dove persone provenienti da tutta Italia vengono per partecipare al festival annuale di Teggiano . Certo, come ogni piccolo paese d'Italia, anche Teggiano ha le sue feste, tradizioni e sagre, ma diciamo che è difficile credere che questo paese richiami così tante persone da ogni parte d'Italia solo per quel giorno di festa.< /div>

<div class="text-justify">Immagino sia tutta una questione di percezione e abitudini. Mi sono abituata a essere invisibile fin da bambina: vivere nella Città Eterna ti fa sentire come se non fossi letteralmente nessuno, nessuno ti conosce davvero quando cammini per strada. Invece, all'interno di piccole comunità come questa città, è normale conoscere tutti nel villaggio e conoscere la vita di tutti. Per certi versi vivere in una piccola comunità come Teggiano è come vivere in una famiglia allargata.</div>

<div class="text-justify">Ci sono voluti letteralmente 15' camminando lentamente per vedere Teggiano interamente. Valeva comunque la pena visitarla, soprattutto per la bella vista sulla vallata di cui si gode dalla terrazza centrale del paese. Bellissimo!</div>
