We've been having a lot of arguments regarding "grooming" and " indoctrination" of children in government schools. What we've been ignoring is the teaching, which is seemingly happening across the Western world, that there aren't moral facts.

Even if you do believe that there aren't moral facts, which would make you not a smart person, I think we should agree that kids shouldn't be taught that there are no moral facts as...well...fact. 

Still, when kids are taught to differentiate between fact and opinion, they aren't taught that there's a crossover. They're also taught that all values are opinions and not facts. On a worksheet, a statement like, "It's wrong to cheat on a test." is presented to students with the correct answer being that it's an opinion. If the student says that it's a fact, the student is marked down.

It stands to simple reason that students who spend twelve years being rewarded for saying that all value statements are merely opinion and being punished for saying that some value statements are facts eventually become adults who are morally bankrupt.

One is unlikely to find prompts like, "Murder is wrong." or "Rape is wrong " on a 2nd grade worksheet; but, the logic that's being taught is clear. Those are value statements and we're teaching kids that those statements can't be facts. If those statements can't be facts, how can we say that Brock Turner should still be in jail? If Turner were to say that he personally felt entitled to his victim's body, how could we say that he's wrong? 

It's also worth noting that teaching that there are no moral facts is, in its own way, an indoctrination of a moral mindset. That shouldn't be the role of any government actor. 

I'm not trying to assume malice here. Most people in our government school system are too stupid to know what they're doing.
