## Yes, WAXP is the same as WAX crypto.

When I first started messing around with the WAX blockchain, this question around the token’s naming convention came straight up.

I thought I was buying WAX…

…so why the heck can I only find the WAXP token on my exchange?!

At the time, I actually felt really dumb asking the question - *Is WAXP the same as WAX crypto?*

But lucky for the rest of you newbie WAX explorers, I’ve asked the dumb question so you don’t have to!

### Is WAXP the same as WAX?
**The answer is yes, WAXP is the same cryptocurrency as WAX.**

Technically, WAX is the native cryptocurrency of the WAX protocol. 

But WAXP denotes the ticker name of the WAX token.

Well, do you see it yet?

WAXP - The **WAX P**rotocol Token.

Ah it’s so simple when you see it in front of your eyes like that, right?

So if you need [WAX for resources](https://leofinance.io/@forexbrokr/wax-cpu-net-and-ram-how-much-do-you-need) when you’re just getting started, look for the ticker WAXP on your exchange.

Buy some WAXP and send it to your WAX wallet and stake it.


### My story behind the question
With the answer now out of the way, let me share a little bit more about how I discovered WAX and why it came up.

I was first introduced to the WAX blockchain thanks to the [GM:FRENS NFT project](https://gmfrens.fun/), born right here on *Threads*.

Worldwide Asset eXchange, or simply WAX for short, has certainly found a niche in making NFTs fun and accessible without all of the technical jargon and fees that are required to get started on other chains.

But the token’s naming convention is certainly not something that is straightforward on the surface.

As someone who is not new to crypto, but certainly new to WAX, if I couldn't immediately tell the difference between WAXP and WAX, then I know I won’t be the only one.

Hopefully this little guide can help a few of you out.


### Final thoughts and encouragement
I just want to wrap up by encouraging you to check out the GM:FRENS project that I mentioned being the reason I had to ask whether WAXP was the same as WAX in the first place.

I ever thought the same question. After I tried to send 1 wax from my wax wallet to binance, I know waxp and wax are the same one 🤣

I was confused about that when I was first on WAX but I quickly learned about it. It's weird but I wonder why they didn't go with just WAX.

Palnet seems to be sucking away Leo's traffic and I wonder why. Since I've been into SEO of late due to [obvious reasons](https://icoverage.io/) I once figured out that the ability for frontends on hive to display whichever content they see fit from the [Hive blockchain](https://icoverage.io/Guides/What-Is-Hive-Blockchain-A-Comprehensive-Guide) may have a demerit on how search engines treat the overall content.

Seeing your title I immediately believed this post was great for SEO, and I decided to run a search immediately and guess the result?

This is not the first time I'm seeing this, Palnet always ends up getting ranked for a couple of posts even when it is not the specified canonical link, given that this post was published via leofinance.io.

To be doubly sure, I decided to run a site check via the planet link to see if the SEO tool will detect that the link is canonicalized and here's the result;

Indeed, I was right, it does point to Leofinance.io

I decided to run through the search results if Leo will be underneath but didn't find it anywhere so I had to result to using a tool to find the URL position in the search result for the query and see the result;

Not Found, Leofinance.io isn't even in the search results, but when I changed it to planet.io and here:

It was spotted in 3rd position, not too far off from the position it is in my search result which is 2nd.

Weird?

That would mean that potential Leo traffic may be getting sucked away by Palnet, cause I checked other frontends which were tagged in this post but none showed up.

Palnet is the oldest Hive tribe, so they definitely have a higher domain authority than ours.

As we can see, Google crawls their version QUICK in comparison to all the other Hive front-end domains and that's what I'm trying to take advantage of by using the tag.

However, with the canonical pointing to the leofinance.io version, Google normally ends up changing to our version... Eventually.

Just give it a little time and it *should* change.

But really, we're at the mercy of Google as remember they actually treat canonicals as *suggestions*.

All we can do is keep on internally linking from **related posts** and trying to tell them that the leo version is the one they *should* rank.

PS. I'm all for websites like yours taking advantage of Hive to add to their own SEO.

But it's not really cool to be dropping links in unrelated posts like this where I'm trying to work for the value of leofinance.io itself and sucking link juice away...

Wax is an underpriced blockchain like Hive. It is the epicenter of play-to-earn games. I have a Wax account. I played Alien Worlds for a while, but I wouldn't say I liked it. Nothing compares to Splinterlands.
