I started for my walk believing it would be one more repetition of the countless walks I have already done.

Little did I know!

As I was wandering inside the fortified fortress of the old town, I have found myself in a wildflower meadow that I never knew it existed! And it looked more like spring rather than the middle of winter!

But let's take it from the top.

I started from the park and went towards the beach of Arvanitia but just before the parking lot, I turned right towards the abandoned hotel and the archeological site of Acronafplia castle. If you have been reading my posts, you should know Nafplio like the back of your hand by now! I am showing you every inch of it, bit by bit, documenting every aspect of the town, as I discover it myself.

The picture above illustrates with the best possible way, another favourite route that I take very often, the "Tour of Arvanitia". A small pedestrian walkway that connects the beach with the port, across the edge of the coastline. One kilometre (0.6 mile) of pure bliss :) 

But as I said this is the walk I didn't do today. Instead I went above it, through the walls of the castle.

Actually the second castle, since the biggest and most famous one is on the hill behind me, as you can see in the picture above. The one I visited today is also on a hill but at a lower altitude and closer to the town. But that doesn't mean that it is lesser in beauty and as it turned out, in surprises too!

I had to include a picture of the snow-capped mountains far away, to prove you that it is indeed winter before I continue with the seductive seascapes and the spring wild flowers :)

At the top of the hill I noticed that small path that I had never followed before, so I changed my usual route and turned left on the untended area.

And I have found, among other wildflowers, the first daisy of the year!

I continued cautiously because of the absurd amount of prickly pears all around and their, not so friendly, thorns and finally  I reached the end of the hill which was also the end of my walk  :)

But I didn't took my way back before I treat myself with one more amazing view and a few deep breaths of the sea-breeze!
