It's no secret that most of the movies made by Netflix are not exactly a masterpiece in any sense. That fact is much more significant if we are talking about genres like horror for example that never meet the expectations and almost always fail the attempt there the thing gets even worse.
However, there are plenty of movies that are worth watching, especially movies based on novels of the same name, such as adaptations of literary works, especially those of the great American writer Stephen King. King has to his credit a very long history of novels that have been taken to the big screen or even to television.
I have decided to begin with this review a long journey through some of his most famous adaptations in the seventh art. The first of these reviews I will do is about one of his novels published in the collection that the writer would launch in 2010 and was called Full Dark, No Stars.

Para nadie es un secreto que la mayoría de películas hechas por Netflix no son precisamente una pieza maestra en ningún sentido. Ese hecho es mucho más significativo si estamos hablando de géneros como el terror por ejemplo que nunca cumplen las expectativas y casi siempre fracasan el intento allí la cosa se pone aun peor.
Sin embargos hay un montón de películas que si valen la pena ver, sobre todo películas basadas en novelas homónimas como las adaptaciones de obras literarias especialmente del gran escritor estadounidense Stephen King. King tiene en su haber un larguísimo historial de novelas que han sido llevadas a la gran pantalla o incluso a la televisión.
He decidido comenzar con esta reseña un largo recorrido por algunas de sus más célebres adaptaciones en el séptimo arte. La primera de esas reseñas que haré es acerca de una de sus novelas publicadas en la colección que el escritor lanzaría en 2010 y que llevaba por nombre Full Dark, No Stars.

In this collection of several novels or stories was born a disturbing story and like all the universe of Stephen King connected with some of the locations, characters or themes addressed in previous novels or stories. In short, the story is part of the universe created by this prolific modern writer.
**1922** is part of that collection which by the way won the Bram Stoker Award as collection of the year and has as its central theme retribution, a concept in which individuals are punished to the same degree as their crimes or mistakes, a western karma. This writer uses (as I modestly put aside) everyday themes for the creation of his literary works. In this case it was the turn of gender violence through, of course, this mystical and esoteric halo to which King has accustomed us in his stories.
Zak Hilditch (These Final Hours 2013) was a young but nobel director who took on the challenge of bringing to the screen this adaptation who was impressed when he read the story. The film received mixed acclaim with a cast that included Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Neal McDonough (Captain America and Batman), Dylan Schmid (Once Upon a Time) and Molly Parker (Deadwood). Hated by some acclaimed by others this story has many edges that I would like to cover today in this post that I bring to you today.

En esta colección de varias novelas o relatos nacía una historia perturbadora y como todo el universo de Stephen King conectado con alguna de las localidades, personajes o tema abordados en novelas o relatos anteriores. En fin el relato es parte del universo creado por este prolífico escritor moderno.
**1922** es parte de esa colección que por cierto ganó el premio Bram Stoker como colección del año y tiene como tema central la retribución un concepto en el cual los individuos son castigados en el mismo grado de sus delitos o errores un karma occidental. Este escritor utiliza (como yo modestia aparta) temas del día a día para la creación de sus obras literarias. En este caso le tocaba el turno a la violencia de género a través por supuesto de este halo místico y esotérico al que King nos tiene acostumbrados en sus historias.
Zak Hilditch (These Final Hours 2013) fue un joven pero nobel director que asumió el reto de llevar a la pantalla esta adaptación quién quedó impresionado al leer la historia. La película recibió una aclamación mixta con un elenco integrado por figuras como Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Neal McDonough (Captain América y Batman) , Dylan Schmid (Once Upon a Time) y Molly Parker (Deadwood). Odiada por unos aclamadas por otros esta historia tiene muchas aristas que me gustaría abarcar hoy en esta publicación que hoy traigo para ustedes.

**Wilfred Leland James** (Thomas Jane) is a macho Nebraska farmer whose wife **Arlette** (Molly Parker) wants to leave to move to Omaha City and open a boutique, but James who is a pretty manipulative guy convinces his young son **Henry** (Dylan Schmid) that his mom wants him away from his first love **Shannon** (Kaitlyn Bernard).
James really has nothing else in his life but that old farmhouse which his wife wants to sell to a millionaire who wants to build a pig farm there. So at Arlette's insistence to sell the 40 hectares and abandon her husband, he convinces his son to kill his mother and get her out of the way.
This will trigger a lot of consequences, first Shannon girlfriend Henry gets pregnant and her father **Harlan** (Neal McDonough) decides to confine her in an abortion clinic. Henry goes mad and escapes to rescue his beloved however father and son will suffer an increasingly intense doom in the course of a cruelly cursed and violent last years of life.
An army of rats invades the old farmhouse and the decomposing body of his wife in search of revenge will lead both of them to live a hell in which they will have to pay the consequences. Because there is always another way to solve things and life sooner or later takes its toll on you for the evil you have done.

Así que ante la insistencia de Arlette de vender las 40 hectáreas y abandonar a su esposo, este convence a su hijo de matar a su madre y quitarla del camino.
Esto desencadenará un montón de consecuencias, en primer lugar Shannon novia Henry sale embarazada y su padre **Harlan** (Neal McDonough) decide confinarla en una clínica de abortos. Henry se vuelve loco y escapa para rescatar a su amada sin embargo padre e hijo sufrirán una condena cada vez más intensa en el transcurso de unos últimos años de vida cruelmente malditos y violentos.
Un ejército de ratas invade la vieja granja y el cuerpo en descomposición de su esposa en busca de venganza llevarán a ambos a vivir un infierno en el cual tendrán que pagar las consecuencias. Porque siempre hay otra forma de solucionar las cosas y la vida tarde o temprano te cobra el mal que has hecho.

<center><h2>My Opinion</h2></center>
Zak Hilditch is probably a name we are going to hear a lot in the coming years, the young director has a fantastic way of telling entertaining stories that don't detract from the original story. In 1922 he does it to perfection supported by a group of actors who do their characterizations very well.
Thomas Jane who is already an experienced actor in adaptations of Stephen King novels (The Mist and Dreamcatcher) is perfect in the role of the wicked James. But who carries the whole story is the young actor Dylan Schmid on whom much of the script rests. Molly Parker is also amazing in a film in which cornfields are the main ingredient.
1922 is a film with a simple plot that perfectly exploits gender abuse without getting into too many complications. With a brilliant first act where the story evolves incredibly well, every minute is entertaining although in the second act the film deflates, it is likely that this happens when the director goes out of his main axis losing conciseness.

Zak Hilditch probablemente sea un nombre que vamos a escuchar muchos en los próximos años, el joven director tiene una manera fantástica de contar historias entretenidas que no desvirtúan la historia original. En 1922 lo hace a la perfección apoyado por un grupo de actores que hacen muy bien sus caracterizaciones.
Thomas Jane quién ya es un actor experimentado en adaptaciones de novelas de Stephen King (La Niebla y el Cazador de Sueños) está perfecto con el rol del perverso James. Pero quién se lleva toda la historia es el joven actor Dylan Schmid en quién reposa gran parte del guion. Molly Parker también lo hace increíble en una película en la cual los maizales son el principal ingrediente.
1922 es una película con un argumento sencillo que explota a la perfección el maltrato de género sin entrar en muchas complicaciones. Con un primer acto brillante donde la historia evoluciona increíblemente bien, cada minuto es entretenido aunque en el segundo acto la película se desinfle es probable que eso suceda cuando el director se sale de su eje principal perdiendo la concisión.

However, this psychological thriller with some horror is very well defined from the first moment, with well done scenes by the director. It is by far a disturbing film without the need to exploit the gore or be too bloody, it is amazing how Ben Richardson's photography manages to capture the essence of the story through the images.
This production may not appear in the annals of film history but it achieves its goal of entertaining and breaks out of the mold of the bland movies Netflix usually has in its catalog. It does it very well, touching on the theme of retribution but without falling into morality all very accomplished and in just the right measure.
Is it a film I would recommend, of course it's dark, it's brilliant in its own right, it's a great choice although for me it would have fit better at 60 minutes in length. would I watch it a second time, I don't know but I probably would, expect from me many more reviews of adaptations of Stephen King novels, 1922 has done it for me.

Sin embargo este Thriller psicológico con algo de terror se define muy bien desde el primer momento, con escenas bien logradas por parte del director. Es por mucho un filme perturbador sin necesidad de explotar el gore o ser demasiado sangrienta, es increíble cómo la fotografía de Ben Richardson logra captar la esencia del relato a través de las imágenes.
Quizás no aparezca está producción en los anales de la historia del cine pero logra su objetivo de entretener y sale del molde de las películas sosas que Netflix suele tener en su catálogo. Lo hace muy bien, tocando el tema de la retribución pero sin caer en la moralidad todo muy logrado y en su justa medida.
¿Es una película que recomendaría? por supuesto, es oscura, es brillante a su medida, es una gran opción aunque para mí se hubiera ajustado mejor en 60 minutos de duración. ¿la vería una segunda vez? no lo sé pero es probable que lo haga, esperen de mi muchas más reseñas de adaptaciones de novelas de Stephen King, 1922 lo ha logrado para mí.
