Este domingo 19 de Marzo de 2023 se dará la quinta cita de la temporada de la copa de la serie NASCAR, con la Ambetter Health 400 en el óvalo intermedio de Atlanta Motor Speedway. La categoría cada vez va agarrando más calor, con carreras muy entretenidas y una lucha muy fuerte por la victoria en cada fin de semana. La anterior carrera fue ganada por William Byron, piloto del auto 24 de Hendrick Motorsports, quien con esta victoria, obtiene su segunda victoria de la temporada y por ende el liderato del campeonato, al menos luego de la victoria en Phoenix. Aunque para este miércoles hay una importante noticia que cambio mucho las cosas, a las miradas entrarán puestas en este fin de semana, el por qué se los voy a desarrollar un poco, a pensar de que este post es más dedicado a lo que es un análisis previa de la próxima carrera, que en este caso es en Atlanta. Este será un fin de semana lleno de automovilismo de las divisiones nacionales de NASCAR, así que no debemos perdernos cada detalle.

Lo cierto es que es miércoles se dio a conocer una serie de sanciones para varios pilotos, en especial del equipo Hendrick, lo cual se desató la polémica y las dudas en torno a los últimos resultados. Al menos ese es mi caso. NASCAR es una categoría que nos suele dar un gran entretenimiento, aunque también hay muchos cosas que se deben analizar en su reglamento ya que en muchos casos puede ser injusto. Para mí si lo es, y hay bastantes cosas que revisar. Todo esto lo digo porque todos los autos del equipo Hendrick fueron penalizaciones por una serie de infracciones en estos autos, pero en especial por la modificación de una pieza del auto sin autorización por parte de los comisarios o los encargados de la parte técnica de la categoría. Los autos 5, 9, 24, y 48 recibieron una serie de sanciones, en las que les puedo mencionar la perdidas significativa de puntos en el campeonato (menos del auto 9), específicamente 100 puntos en el campeonato de pilotos, lo mismo pasa con el campeonato, lo cual es un duro golpe para cada uno de los pilotos del equipo.

Otro dato importante que aportar para esta previa es comentarles un poco sobre la pista donde se llevará este evento. Aunque ya en reseñas anteriores las he descrito más detalladamente. Atlanta Motor Speedway es un óvalo de 1.540 millas, además posee 4 curvas, donde cada una de ellas posee 28°, siendo una de las pistas más inclinadas que tenemos en NASCAR, anteriormente el peralte era menor, pero está se modificó hace algunos años, con la finalidad de mejorar el espectáculo. La inclinación de la recta posterior es de 5°. Anteriormente este escenario era de los más complicados que se visitaban en la categoría, por lo desgastante de su vieja superficie, además de las grietas que esta poseía, pero con los reconfiguración y el re asfaltado, esto cambio notablemente. Pienso que en cierto punto las carreras son un poco más aburridos, me gustaban más en el pasado. Pienso que el cambio de asfalto era necesario, más no así en las curvas. Soy de los que pienso que los cambios son importantes, pero a veces esto no da el resultado esperado. Aun así soy gran fanático de NASCAR, así que sigo disfrutando de las carreras en esta pista.

El favorito para llevarse la victoria en estas carreras es William Byron, más allá de la última sanción que se le aplicó. ¿Tuvo algún beneficio con la modificación de esta pieza? no lo sé, por las últimas carreras pienso que si tenían ventaja, se veían más dominantes que resto. Pero, también hay que destacar que Byron ganó la temporada pasada y tiene una buena cantidad de victoria dentro de NASCAR. Así que pienso que sigue siendo el principal candidato. Kyle Busch es otro los pilotos que veo muy fuerte y más cuando viene de dos carreras donde las cosas no se le dieron, pero aun así en la última quedó entre los primeros 10. Como dejar fuera a Kevin Harvick, con cada uno de los números que posee y que se los mencioné anteriormente. Para esta carrera no se espera que haya una práctica libre. La clasificación es el día sábado a las 11:35am ET hora local, donde esta se da en una primera etapa en dos segmentos, en cada una la mitad de los inscrito y los mejores 5 tiempos avanzan a una ronda final donde pelearan por la pole. La carrera es el día domingo 19 de Marzo de 2023 a las 3pm ET. La distancia de la carrera es a 260 vueltas, divididos en tres segmentos, el primero a 60 y los dos siguientes a 100 giros, donde en el tercero es donde se define el ganador de la carrera. Un factor que veo súper importante es la estrategia, que ha sido vital en las últimas tres carreras y también pienso que lo será en esta.
