Lately I've been playing a lot of retro videogames that somehow or other take a lot of "inspiration" from movies, a few days ago I did a review that was clearly inspired by the Indiana Jones saga, and this time, a videogame of which you can easily see the clear reference to Robocop.

The story of this game is so basic and simple that, I'm sure this will be the shortest explanation of a video game's plot that I've ever done in a review. In ESWAT: City Under Siege we are several years in the future and the story is about a city that has succumbed to chaos, crime and destruction, but fortunately for the city's inhabitants, the police have managed to create a new police force equipped with the most advanced anti-crime technology in the world. In this game we will embody Duke, a policeman whose work was focused on ending all criminality in the city, so he will be able to use a super-technologically advanced suit to accomplish this difficult mission. As you can see a game that does not hide its clear references to Robocop.

ESWAT: City Under Siege isn't a game with spectacular graphics, but it's still a video game that has its own unique charisma, well, maybe not so unique since in this aspect you can still see the inspiration once again with Robocop, but ESWAT: City Under Siege did it in such a way that, despite not being a game whose graphic quality is exceptional, it was able to achieve something quite decent for the time, and besides that I don't consider it to have aged as much as other video games.

The character design it's good, the sprites are quite recognizable and although they repeat a lot throughout the game, they have a good set of moves. Our main character, on the other hand, has a much bigger sprite, from which you can see a little bit better the details of his armor, or when he is without it. Similarly, the stage designs also present quite decent and varied designs, maintaining a cyberpunk style, very typical of the time in which the events of this game take place.

Surprisingly I liked the band ESWAT: City Under Siege quite a lot, I didn't think that a game of this style and especially being one of the first games they made for the Megadrive would have such a catchy soundtrack. The tunes when we listen to them separately are really good, and they have rhythms that we can immediately associate with the retro. Very impressed with this soundtrack, very good.

ESWAT: City Under Siege is a game that can be classified into different genres: platforms, action and shooting. Throughout this mission to recover the peace of the city, we will have to go through different scenarios full of enemies and eliminate them by using our weapons. At the beginning we will not be able to count on the armor that turns us into a kind of "Robocop" but we will only be able to use a gun.

But then we will be able to obtain the aforementioned armor and with it we will have a logical increase in skills, since with this armor, our protagonist will be able to use a jet pack, with which we will be able to move around the stage more quickly and easily, as well as having weapons that cause more damage.

Also being a platform game, the use of this jet pack is of great help to reach certain places that we can not if we do not have the armor equipped, we must give a proper use to this armor as it has a limit of use, and we must let it recharge its energy bar to not run out.

<i>   ESWAT: City Under Siege is a simple game with easy gameplay and intuitive, responsive controls, and the sound aspect was the one that surprised me the most, because it's really good. </i>
