Are you spamming the blockchain and you don't even know it?

<p>Pending reward balances were put in place to reduce transactions on the blockchain.</p>
<p>Instead of a transaction being recorded for every .001sp curation reward, they were put into a pool to be claimed in batches.</p>
<p>By putting these micro transactions into batches, to be claimed in bulk, strain on the nodes was reduced.</p>
<p>However, services have appeared that allow you to bypass this feature.</p>
<p>Instead of claiming your rewards in batches, the service will do it automatically for you.</p>
<p>But by doing so, they put unnecessary strain on the blockchain, bloating the space needed to keep the ledger.</p>
<p>I noticed when looking into a certain curation cult's wallet that not only do they rape the reward pool to favor their sycophants and dupes, but they also spam the network with every little curation reward that they get.</p>
<p>They get alot, too.</p>
<p>Now I don't know if they are just greedy and need that SP bad enough that they think spamming the nodes is acceptable, or if they are too lazy to log in once a day to accept them in a batch, or if they are just stupid.</p>
<p>I do know that they weren't newbs when the fork was made to enable batch reward redemptions, they should know that they are clogging the nodes with unnecessary transactions.</p>
<p>But then, they think that they can treat some people like second class citizens and that there is nothing wrong with that, so I'm gonna go with just stupid.</p>
<p>If you, dear reader, are using a service to automatically accept rewards please stop.</p>
<p>Leave spamming the network to the experts, eh?</p>

Thx, never really thought about it in that way. 
Not that I'm using a service to claim the reward instantly, but I tend to click that claim button whenever I enter my wallet.

I try to wait until i have one of something.
1sbd or 1steem.
But i dont get rewards because i poked too many whales, so its not a big issue for me.

Had no idea that could be done, see no profit in it either, I don't know if we are talking about the same thing, but even sometimes I get paid say a 0.001 curation reward (something over which I have no control) I think that is not OK, why not wait until I have at least 0.01, makes more sense to me.

This is why claiming rewards was put into place, to reduce transactions.
There is a tiny amount of profit in claiming rewards as quick as possible, but it would take really large payouts for them to add up to much.
They make payouts register on the ui at .001 rather than .01 because it makes it look like you are earning more.
Most folks would rarely see curation rewards if they were limited to the larger amount.

not exactly sure, but seems there is very little in place to prevent abuse.

it is like one someone has steem power.. they just have it, and it builds and builds..

doesn't it make more sense that you have to put in effort each day to get steem power?  like voting builds it, curating builds it... I don't have the answer, but I feel that it should be earned beyond just existing.

Yep, dpos is heavily stacked against those that dont have much stake, just like real life.
It was better with the n2 reward curve, once the whale experiment put a cap on the abuse.
Stinc knew that selfvoting would open the doors to scammers, but allowed it anyway.
Gotta wonder how many accounts are sock puppets and/or paying kickbacks.
Hang in there, it wont always be like this.
