Anna laid in her own lean-to as the sun came up. She never thought all of those survivor shows that Blake made her watch would actually come in handy. She also took some bitter pleasure knowing that her shelter had kept her dry and warm last night, while his had leaked. He hadn’t asked to come into hers, and she certainly hadn’t offered. Even after a week, he was still complaining of the headache she had caused when she had hit him with the bananas. She rolled her eyes at the thought of it.

Although they hadn’t made it far out that day their boat had sank, they were still inhabiting an island that seemed to be barren of people. At least from this side of the jungle. They had been fortunate that a clear spring river ran just on the other side of the thick trees. Blake had been the one to find the coconuts, and after he guzzled the milk inside, Anna had been the one to remember they could use it to boil water and stopped him just in time from tossing them into the ocean. He hadn’t thanked her right away, he was still sulking.

It wasn’t easy those first couple of days. Neither one had any fishing abilities, let alone without a proper fishing pole, and their appetites were ravenous.

As Anna started to move around and get her bearings for the day, she noticed Blake wasn’t in his spot. She hoped he had found something useful to do, she didn’t think she could take another day of whining.

“Anna! Anna!” Blake cried out.

She jumped up, and ran to find him on the beach, spear in hand with a fish on the other end. Relief engulfed her every sense, her stomach told her nothing else mattered, and wrapped her arms around him in congratulations. He kissed her on top of the head, and handed her the spear.

“I caught it? You cook it?” he looked at her hopefully.

She made a face, but agreed, it was well worth the trade.
