Unfortunately I wasn't able to post my #wednessdaywalk post yesterday, but I still wanted to share it with you. 

What I like about wintertime is that the sun isn't very high up in the sky. Because of this you often get to see the sun through the trees in the parks which is a nice view and creates some cool shadows.

In the local park here is a lot of water. There are a lot of ditches and a large pond. 
This attracts a lot of water birds. I often see white swans, geese. This time I spotted this pair of ducks. It's funny to see how the male and female from the same species differ that much.
I learned that the female ducks have these protective colors because they are the ones that hatch the eggs.

This is an example of one of the ditches in the park. There a a lot of bridges, but this is a fallen tree. It was probably blown over during one of the autumn storms. When fallen trees don't form any danger or block a path they leave it where it is so they become a breeding place for insects.

Although it's good for the insects and more insects are good for the birds it sometimes is a bit sad to see trees that have fallen over.  It probably had some kind of a disease since its trunk was a bit hollow. I have passed this giant old willow tree many times during my walks in the park.
It was such a nice and majestic tree standing there at the edge of the pond, but now it is in the water. 

On the other hand we well soon see new sprouts emerging from the earth when spring arrives. 
That's the circle of life...
