Everyone should know some things about **bees**, their lives and their importance in our life, also about the products they make.
So let start.

### BEES COMMUNITY
**Bees community** is one of the most organized communities in world. The way they work, communicate and so on is so interesting and really amazing.
There are a dozens of species of bees. In Croatia the most common is ***Apis Mellifica* var. Carnica or carniolan honey bee.** This is also the species that we have.
Honey bee is a social insect whose society is made up of queen, crankshafts and drones.

**Queen** is the only sexually mature female in bee society. Her role is to lay eggs and provide the stability in community. In every nest there is only one queen, if young queens happen to appear they will leave the nest and take some of crankshafts and drones with themselves. So people who works with bees need to watch for that so they don't lose the brood. 
Fertilized eggs develop into females (workers or queens), while unfertilized eggs develop into males (drones).

**Drones** are sexually mature males, their goal is to mate with the queen. In hive there is five to six hundred drones. Unlike the crankshafts they don't have stinger, they are totally harmless. :) 
Even if mating with the queen is their most important job there are also other things that they do like maintaining the microclimate inside hive and being psychic help to others in hive.

**Crankshaft** are a sexually underdeveloped female bee. She does everything in bee community : feeds the brood, collects nectar, pollen, propolis, builds honeycombs, maintains the temperature and humidity of the air in the hive, maintains cleanliness, protects the hive from intruders, feeds and nurtures the queen, produces honey, royal jelly, etc. They sting sometimes, but it is all because they protect what is important to them, **the community**.

Hive is the home of bees in which people put the bees to make the work with them easier. 
The first known hives mimicked the hollows of a trunk. Today, hives are divided into hives with fixed honeycomb and hives with movable honeycomb.
Today we have the most common LR hives, AŽ hives or Farrar hives.

Bees are important for this world, for our health. Bees play a big role in pollinating flowers. It is estimated that one third of human food depends on pollination by bees.
Unfortunately today people by its negligence and the race for the highest possible yields on agricultural crops use poisons to control the weed and  diseases and in that way they put bees in nearby area in danger. 😥

We need to protect this insects, they are special and the time is here to finally accept that and start to care about others creatures.

The first thing that comes to mind to everyone...**HONEY** 🍯. Honey is a sweet viscous liquid that comes from honey plants. Honey is made by honey bees from nectar that collects on the flowers or sweet secretions (honeydew) of some insects.

Honey is one of the most perfect products from nature. It contains almost all the ingredients that make up the human body.

**Covered honey in hive.**


There is not a bee that makes a bad honey. Bad honey is a result of industrial filling or a bad unscrupulous and uneducated beekeeper. All previous attempts to mix industrial honey production, despite the huge technology and huge investments, have yielded devastating results. The secret of producing real natural bee honey is carried by bees in their body and digestive organs, which turn this product into a medicine almost irreplaceable in the human diet.

**PROPOLIS** is a resinous substance with a specific smell and taste, whose color, chemical and physical properties depend on the plants that are within the flying radius of bees. Bees collect it, process it with secretions from their glands, and use it to fill cracks in the hive, to fix honeycombs, disinfect and polish the cells in it, reduce the openings of the hive to protect it from possible enemies, and as a building material. It also have medical properties.

**POLLEN** or medical miracle, super food...
Pollen are small grains invisible for our eyes that bees stick on their legs making granules and in that way they input them in hive. That is the natural resource that bees collect for surviving the winter period. Flower pollen or flower powder as bee product is very healthy as supplement in diet.

**BEESWAX** is a natural wax which is excreted from bees and they make honeycomb with it. Beekeepers mostly use wax for production of honeycomb base that benefits the bees in faster production of honeycomb. In the branches of processing and production of wax, today beeswax is mostly replaced by artificial wax or paraffin. Nevertheless, it is not possible to replace it completely because it is chemically unique and it is not possible to artificially produce it as any other bee products. The largest consumer of natural beeswax is a cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry, where it is an integral part of various creams, ointments, paste and lipstick.

**ROYAL JELLY** is the secretion of honey bees used as larval food. The royal jelly is collected and sold as a food supplement because of the different health benefits of its ingredients, such as vitamin B-complex. The royal jelly can also be found in some beauty products.
**BEE VENOM** is the secretion of a grieving system of **crankshafts**, they use it to defend the colony against the enemy or as a warning to potential danger. The quantity and quality of the poison is closely linked to the quantity and quality of the works. The bees pass poison through the stingers that have been jagged from the side of the wall. Although in large and controlled beeswax is harmful to human health, in small quantities it is a controversial drug and one of the most respected products on the market.
These are bee products that are unique and no matter how hard people try to copy it, they didn't succeed, they can only do it partially, the bees are far ahead of us.

It is time for people to finally realize how much the bees mean to us and how much their contribution is to this world. We need to take care of their survival. When I pass quickly on the apiary, there is always something going on. Their harmonious operation, sound, and smell from beehives provides calming and relaxation for the soul and the body.* "
