Why HIVE is not ranked properly on CoinMarketCap yet?

HIVE have been listed on more big exchanges, have larger market cap (#39 on @coingecko at the time of writing), and have larger trading volume compared to a lot of other cryptocurrencies that are listed and ranked properly by [CoinMarketCap](https://coinmarketcap.com/). What is the precise reason provided by CoinMarketCap, if they have said anything, for not ranking HIVE properly by market cap on their cryptocurrency list yet?

All I can think of is CMC is owned by Binance who are pretty cosy with Justin and wouldn't want it sitting above STEEM. On coingecko HIVE is #42 and STEEM is in the 70s

Maybe, the time of the CMC acquisition is very suspicious. There's absolutely no reason for Binance to acquire CMC. I wouldn't be too surprised if that's the actual reason.

I agree with you and I think that it just shows how consolidation keeps creeping into this space! So much for decentralization, owning CMC sends them tones of additional web traffic and they can even take away traffic sent to competing exchanges! 

The moment I saw the sale go threw I knew that was the plan! I’ve been using @coingecko ever since
