Bitcoin needs to be distributed to be secure and that includes the software. One repo under control of a central authority is not bitcoin and is a security risk to bitcoin more than the bugs in BU will ever be. I'll trust my future investment with BU, Classic and other clients over core any day. Notice the network stayed up. Blocks kept being mined and signaling percentage increased. Had this been a bug in core (and don't think there aren't any nothing is bug free) and there was no BU or Classic the network would have come to a near halt.
