There have been unofficial announcements from Osmosis and Akash Network of potential dual rewards through the OSMO & AKT LPs is Osmosis.
The additional rewards for OSMO LPs will come from what they call "Super Fluid Staking". By the time this goes live, the LPer will be able to take the value from the OSMO LP and stake them to one of the Osmosis Network Validators. The liquid OSMO coins that were pooled into the Osmosis Liquidity Pools will bear another utility; the LP token can also be utilized as a staking token. It's dual utility at the same period of time! By doing so, the LPer will be able to earn both the Liquidity Mining Incentives and the Staking Rewards using the same OSMO coin.
In the case of Akash Network, they will be utilizing what Osmosis call the "External Incentives" mechanism, here's an excerpt from the ["Osmosis Liquidity Mining 101"](https://medium.com/osmosis/osmosis-liquidity-mining-101-2fa58d0e9d4d#f413)

> Osmosis not only allows the community to add incentives to gauges. Anyone can deposit tokens into a gauge to be distributed. This feature allows outside parties to augment Osmosis’ own liquidity incentive program.
For example, there may be an ATOM<>FOOCOIN pool that has a one-day gauge incentivized by governance OSMO rewards. However, the Foo Foundation may also choose to add additional incentives to the one-day gauge or even add incentives to a new gauge (such as a one-week gauge).
> These external incentive providers can also set up “long-lasting incentive programs” that distribute rewards over an extended time period. For example, the Foo Foundation can deposit 30,000 Foocoins to be distributed over a one-month liquidity program. The program will automatically distribute 1000 Foocoins per day to the gauge.
If I get this correctly, the Akash Network Community Pool will be funding the additional AKT token incentives using this mechanism. The amount of AKT tokens is still unknown as of this moment but the CEO of Akash Network has verbally confirmed this event happening in the coming months or sooner.
Even the CEO of Persistence Network has also verbally confirmed to be utilizing the External Incentives mechanism to provide additional rewards for the XRPT LPs in Osmosis. However, we might not expect this to happen since it was also mentioned that the current mining incentives for XPRT pools are still at a high level. By the time the pool has matured and the APY gets lower than we might expect the implementation of the additional incentives in the form of XPRT coins!
I have never felt excited about liquidity mining before, especially when compared to the Defi platforms that I participated in BSC. Having this in mind, I believe that the OSMO token will be able to attract more LP providers in the process.
