Checking Out Steem’s First Smart Media Token, APPICS
[APPICS](https://appics.com/) is the next generation social media app issuing the first Smart Media Token on the Steem blockchain.

APPICS is a social media play looking to shake up the status quo where all the value accrues to the shareholders of the platforms.

With APPICS users can earn their fair share and influence the network using a cryptocurrency reward-token, XAP.

APPICS is a social network that features photo and video sharing as well as an integrated marketplace. And of course the cryptocurrency rewards.

The [token sale](https://appics.com/downloads/Appics_XAP_distribution.pdf) is going on right now. The pre-sale was already done but there are four more rounds. The accepted currencies are BTC, BCH, ETH, STEEM, SBD, and LTC. And 50% of the tokens are getting distributed in the ICO. It looks like 5% of tokens will go to Steemit as well.

According to the roadmap the plan is to distribute the token in Q1 2018, release the test net in Q2 2018, alpha launch in Q3 2018, and then expand globally in Q4 2018 and beyond.

The team is led by co-founders Tony Winchester, Uma Hagenguth, and Sandro Ieva. You can see their bios below.

Overall I like the concept of APPICS. Getting paid for your social media plus an integrated marketplace makes a lot of sense.
