Yesterday I shared a post where I showed you that I finally acquired my first graphic tablet, one that will allow me to make digital drawings in another way, because as I mentioned before I only made drawings with the mouse and the touchpad of the laptop.

Well, without wasting time, I started to draw and I made a very interesting drawing. I would like to share the step by step of this drawing, I hope you like it.

El día de ayer compartí una publicación donde les mostré que por fin adquirí mi primera tableta gráfica, una que me permitirá hacer dibujos digitales de otra manera, pues como les mencioné antes sólo hacía dibujos con el mouse y el touchpad de la laptop.

Pues bien, sin perder el tiempo, comencé a dibujar e hice un dibujo bastante interesante. Me gustaría compartir el paso a paso de este dibujo, espero les guste.

The tools I used to make this drawing were the programs Medibang Paint Pro and Photoshop, as well as my graphic tablet, with which I drew on the laptop.

The first thing I did for the drawing was to define my workspace, a new project with dimensions of 2868x1926. I decided for a color similar to crimson, but with a lighter shade, as you can see in the image below:

Lo primero que hice para el dibujo fue definir mi espacio de trabajo, un nuevo proyecto con unas dimensiones de 2868x1926. Me decidí por un color similar al carmesí, pero con una tonalidad mas clara, tal como pueden ver en la imagen a continuación:

I immediately began to make the initial strokes for the sketch, quite simple and with a brush at 50% opacity. Then I made darker strokes, using a feather brush.

De inmediato comencé a hacer los trazos iniciales para el boceto, unos bastante sencillos y con un pincel al 50% de opacidad. Luego hice trazos más oscuros, usando un pincel tipo pluma.

When I started coloring, I saw that the drawing could be done without those black strokes, so I decided to leave them only as a guide, not for the final result, so that's what I did. 

I followed the guide of the strokes, coloring with a purple color, but very light. Afterwards I added some color to the cheeks and chin area, for that I used more pink and orange colors, as you can see in the images below:

Al comenzar a colorear, vi que el dibujo lo podría hacer sin esos trazos negros, así que tomé la decisión de solo dejarlos como guía, no para el resultado final, así que eso hice. 

Seguí la guía de los trazos, coloreando con un color morado, pero muy claro. Porteriormente agregué un poco de color a las mejillas y al área de la barbilla, para eso usé colores más rosados y naranjas, tal como se observa en las imágenes de abajo:

As you can see, I followed the pattern of the strokes, but I went a bit out of line because I didn't like the way it looked. However, in the area of the lips I did follow the same design that I had done in the original strokes.

Como pueden ver, seguí el patrón de los trazos, pero me salí un poco de la línea pues no me gustó demasiado como había quedado. Sin embargo, en el área de los labios sí seguí el mismo diseño que había hecho en los trazos originales.

Once I had used the strokes for the just and necessary, I hid the layer and continued drawing playing with the shadows and colors. 

Notice in the next photo that I added the shadow lines around the lips at the top, where you can see the shapes and shadows that the upper part of the mouth should have, where the mustache goes, only women don't have a mustache.

Una vez que había usado los trazos para lo justo y necesario, oculté la capa y continué dibujando jugando con las sombras y colores. 

Fíjense en la siguiente foto que agregué las líneas de sombras alrededor de los labios en la parte superior, donde se ve las formas y sombras que debería tener la parte superior de la boca, donde va el bigote, solo que las mujeres no tienen bigote.

I must comment that coloring is much easier with the graphic tablet, because I can color as if I were doing it with colors on paper, only here I can use a blurred brush, with different opacities and the mixing of all the shades and colors is easier.

At this point I started to do the darkening of the lips, until I created the separation between the lower and upper lip:

Debo comentar que el coloreado es mucho más fácil con la tableta gráfica, porque puedo colorear como si lo estuviera haciendo con colores en un papel, solo que aquí puedo usar un pincel difuminado, con distintas opacidades y el mezclado de todas las tonalidades y colores es más fácil.

En este punto comencé a hacer el oscurecimiento de los labios, hasta crear la separación que hay entre el labio inferior y el superior:

The lips were finished, except for some shadows that I kept adding to make them look much more realistic. 

On the other hand, I made a slight sketch of the nose, to have a guide of where to create more leftovers and where to make lines for the nostrils and the shapes it has.

Below I leave two photos of this process. The details of the process are minimal, but notice the nose and chin area, where I applied more shadows and colored with light orange colors to resemble as much as possible a human nose and chin.

Los labios estaban terminados, salvo algunas sombras que continué agregando para que parecieran labios mucho más reales. 

Por otra parte, hice un leve boceto de la nariz, para tener una guía de donde crear más sobras y donde hacer líneas para las fosas de la nariz y las formas que esta tiene.

A continuación dejo dos fotos de este proceso. Los detalles del proceso son mínimos, pero fíjense en el área de la nariz y la barbilla, donde apliqué más sombras y coloreé con colores naranjas claros para asemejarme lo más posible a una nariz y barbilla humana.

To finish, I added the last details which were some lines on the nose, to differentiate it a little more from the rest of the face. I couldn't make it look good just using darker colors and shadows, so I decided to add lines... 

If any other cartoonist reads me... what would he/she have done?

Para finalizar, agregué los últimos detalles que fueron unas líneas en la nariz, para diferenciarla un poco más del resto del rostro. No logré que se viera bien solo usando colores más oscuros y sombras, así que mejor decidí agregar líneas...

As a detail, and this is because I thought the face was a bit empty, without imperfections, I decided to add a mole on the right side of the mouth.

I don't know, it gives an interesting touch to the drawing so I placed it.

Como detallito, y esto es porque me pareció que la cara estaba un poco vacía, sin imperfecciones, decidí agregarle un lunar en el lado derecho de la boca.

No sé, le da un toque interesante al dibujo así que lo coloqué.

This way the drawing was finished, the first one I do with my graphic tablet and the truth is that it left me quite satisfied, at least for being the first one I do. 

I must confess that it is difficult for me to make the strokes, more than with the mouse or with a pencil on paper, but I will get used to this way of drawing.

De esta manera quedó terminado el dibujo, el primero que hago con mi tableta gráfica y la verdad que me dejó bastante satisfecho, al menos para ser el primero que hago. 

Debo confesar que me cuesta hacer los trazos, más que con el mouse o con un lápiz en papel, pero ya iré acostumbrándome o tomándole el gusto a esta manera de dibujar.
